Regardless of your personal love for DavidB you are not demonstrating a great deal of logic, here.
Regardless of what percent of the population believes in Creationism, there is no scientific evidence to support it. Teaching it as science is simply counter-productive to giving children a good education.
While the arguments regarding homosexuality are somewhat murkier (because we have not found clear and convincing evidence to what causes it and, in the absence of understanding, there is a great weight of cultural tradition in this society to oppose it), teaching that homosexuals should not be persecuted is a legitimate way to “establish Justice” and “insure domestic Tranquility” by not creating a subset of the population that is open to attack and harrassment. Since there is no scientific evidence that homosexuals have problems (other than persecution) or that they are “choosing” to be “deviant,” then teaching tolerance is also a way to avoid teaching ignorance.
