Well, that sucked.
Been saying this for a long time now… Grady Little is an amazing manager OFF the field, but put him in a clutch situation, and he’ll make as many mistakes as you possibly can.
Incidentally, anyone see the two quite nice defensive plays made by Walker, the second baseman we kept replacing because he was inadequate defensively throughout the entire playoffs?
UGH.
Oh, also, fuck you, Grady Little, because your inability to recognize that Pedro had to be removed (Not necessarily when you went out to the mound, but definitely after the Matsui double) made the game go into extra innings - as number of innings goes up, time to study for exam tomorrow (This!) morning goes down. You have ruined our entire damn season with one blunder after another, and working on my grades at the same time is the last straw. There will be those who defend you, but I, for one, truly hope that we can hire someone competent this offseason to move into your office.
-K.
Fuck you. Name ONE pitcher, especially one who is among the elite in the sport, that is going to say, during the biggest game of his career, “You know, coach, I don’t have anything left. Better put someone else in.” There isn’t one. That comes with being a pro, your team’s ace. You never give up. You have the arrogance to think that you can strike the next guy out, no matter what. That’s why they pay him $15.5 million a year. As a manager, Little should have had the sack to say “Pedro, we’re here because of you, let’s let the pen get you the win.” He didn’t, and Red Sox fans will suffer through another year.
I certainly hope Grady Little gets run out of town on a rail tomorrow morning. In fact, I’ll help. There was no reason for the Sox not to take this game.
And I feel your pain, Kiros, because I’ve been putting my academic life on the line for this team throughout the post-season. Might as well have been studying for those exams, right?
Well, I dunno. The tension of the whole thing was exquisite while it lasted, but god damn.
