The Duckman TV series… it went for four seasons (Same as Futurama!), yet to the best of my knowledge, it’s not available on DVD, retail or otherwise.
Same goes for Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Weird Science, and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (I’ve seen them on VHS, but not DVD).
“Rebecca” is available from Criterion. I have it.
The ones I’m keeping an eye out for are:
The Heiress
My Cousin Rachel
Jane Eyre (the Joan Fontaine/Orson Welles one)
Kenneth Branaugh’s Hamlet
Peter’s Friends
And I’d love to get the 1980-ish version of Rebecca starring Jeremy Brett and Joanna David.
It’s supposed to be coming out with the next movie, which means sometime next year. I’ve been seeing them on eBay thoguh, but why pay that much for it twice?
**Stop Making Sense
Swimming to Cambodia
Gigi**
At least they’re not available on Netflix (yet?).
Sheila and Twain are indeed available on DVD. Frankenstein and MST3K are only available used (I knew this, when I noted that both had once been available on DVD, but noted that they no longer were), and at raised prices (MST3K is going for almost $150 on DVD!)
The others don’t seem to be available in the US on DVD.
The Leslie Caron version, of course.
This is available; I don’t know why Netflix wouldn’t have it.
How about all the rest of the seasons of The Larry Sanders Show?
They released Season 1 something like 5 years ago and then never continued with it. I’d still love to see the series finale with Jim Carrey.
Andy Richter Controls the Universe
Rebecca was out - it’s out of print - note the high price on amazon. Some other Hitchcock films were also available by Criterion, but they’re out of print too.
I’m still waiting for the old (1934)
“Treasure Island” with Lionel Barrymore.
Netflix has this.
Seasons of Night Court beyond the first.
And, not that I’m looking to buy it, but I’m kind of surprised that Family Ties has no DVD presence.
Netflix is really weird when it comes to concert DVDs. I don’t know if it’s a property rights issue, or what. Usually, Netflix doesn’t even list a concert DVD until several weeks or even months after its release. I’m still waiting for Anthrax “Attack of the Killer A’s” which has been in print for many years.
If you’re really desperate, Blockbuster Online has SMS in their catalog, but I don’t know if it’s actually available. (I cancelled my BBO account last month.)
I’m still waiting for Before the Rain and Voyager (not to mention a few score vintage flicks).
Don’t laugh:
The Blue Bird – Shirley Temple (I’ve already ordered the silent film that’s currently available)
Stop Making Sense
House of Dark Shadows
Night of Dark Shadows (prefereable restored director’s cut, but I’ll take anything)
Tobor the 8th Man (Series)
The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T
Trouble in Tahiti (PBS Broadcast)
Mass, A theatre piece for actors, singers, dancers, and musicians (PBS Broadcast)
Jack: A Flash Fantasy (PBS Broadcast)
Q.E.D (complete series – 1 season)
When Things Were Rotten (Series)
Wizards and Warriors (series)
and a ditto for:
Duckman
Young Indiana Jones
Kenneth Branaugh’s Hamlet
Parker Lewis
Wierd Science (Series)
Eric the Viking
Night Court
Non-diddled Star Wars
And that’s all I can think of right now.
BTW: My Briscoe County wish has been granted, so, anything is possible.
What? No one’s wishing for A Star Wars Christmas ?
(I’ve found a bootleg copy of this on DVD. It is supremely awful.)
Little Shop of Horrors with the original world domination ending intact rather than the lame-ass Seymour-Saves-the-Day ending.
“The Wonder Years”
Twin Peaks Pilot Episode and Season 2
The Private Life of Plants - Absolutely beautifully photographed David Attenborough documentary (it is available in the UK, but no Region 1 release yet).
