It wasn’t a great show, but I’d like to see Dark Matter get a proper ending at least.
Pretty sure you’re kidding here, but yeah, a realistic Northern Exposure wouldn’t work. The quirky surreality of Cicely was the real star of the show.
My vote for this topic goes to Deadwood, possibly HBO’s best original show ever, and yes, that’s a high bar. We never did get a proper ending. At least make the movie they’ve been talking about for years.
The Starlost.
I’d like to see Neil Patrick Harris return to TV as an adult Doogie Howser, perhaps running his own department or as dean of medicine for a major trauma center, and dealing with all of the headaches of an independent adult.
Downton Abbey. I would like to have seen how they dealt with the Great Depression and (if the series was long enough) the run-up to WWII. Or a household with a reformed Thomas as butler. Or Daisy finally getting away.
Yes, I know a DA movie is coming.
I asked this question out loud just now and the response from all was a resounding
“Firefly”
Queer as Folk, so much has changed since 2005/6.
That might be fun…
I’ll nominate “Constantine” from a few years back on NBC with Matt Ryan as John Constantine. He got the character down pat, and the show was entertaining as well.
“Knight Rider”, of course. I mean, a car that drives by itself and talks to the owner? How insane is that concept? Millenial’s minds would be blown away.
I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I’d love another season or 2 of Friends. I’d love to know what’s going on in their lives after all these years.
Yes! Closer to Harlan’s (RIP) original vision, where it takes several episodes before you get a complete picture of what the f is going on; e.g. NO outside shots of the Ark. That completely blows the whole reveal. At most, in the first episode, one of the characters, after leaving the Biosphere, can find a portal that reveals an infinite blackness with a field of stars – which would be mind-blowing, as these people would not know what real stars look like.
Of course, among his staff would be a precocious teenaged doctor. Extra points if it’s a girl and/or a minority.
Constantine with Matt Ryan is back. He was on an episode or two of Arrow and then appeared on several episodes of Legends of Tomorrow. He is now a series regular on the newest season.
American Gothic.
I think it was someone here on the SDMB who suggested Alan Alda should do a show about Hawkeye Pierce as a retired surgeon in Crabapple Cove who solves murder mysteries.
Alan has recently revealed he has Parkinson’s, so a show like that isn’t likely to happen even if it was officially mooted, but it is still a great idea.
the original concept of the equalizer …. morcan freeman could of done it years ago …… tho if he was control in the reboot would be cool
They brought it back a few years ago. It barely lasted a season. This time KITT was housed in a Ford Mustang that also could morph into other vehicles, such as a van, a pickup truck, and a Crown Vic police intercepter, and was voiced by Val Kilmer.
Bring back funny variety shows like Carol Burnett or the Smothers Brothers.
I liked Mission Impossible when it was a show about a team that worked together to accomplish cool missions. (Unlike the movies, which seem to be about only Tom Cruise’s character). And a heist show like Hustle was fun. (Never saw Leverage, although I heard that was similar.)
And I also would not mind seeing the return of the original Law & Order, as long as it was the same episodic program with no serialized storylines.
I would have said Twin Peaks… until they actually did it.
I’d go with Firefly or Pushing Daisies and hope that they do a better job.
Or maybe a really old show that nobody but me (it seems) even remembers: Lucan. Boy raised by wolves becomes a detective.
