What video game are you playing right now?

I’ve just finished Binary Domain and despite a few minor niggles I absolutely loved it. When I say niggles they’re those which come down to how picky a gamer the person playing it is. I’ll get these out of the way first.

Anno 1404 and SimCity Social. Tried picking up Fallout 3 and Skyrim again recently but felt liked I’d already done everything that I wanted to do in those games, twice.

I’m playing through Dragon Warrior/Quest 4 on an NES emulator. Only played through part 1 on the actual console (a game I thought was so-so), but saw a bunch of reviews saying it’s the best RPG for the NES, so decided to give it a shot. It’s pretty good so far (I’m on Chapter 4), but no Ultima IV.

I just got back from a trip to Italy and before I left, I did some “studying” by replaying Assassin’s Creed 2. Now that I’m back, I picked up Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and I’m playing that.

Finally played some Mass Effect 2 (PC) last night. It was getting on my nerves because I kept getting stuck in the air, finally figured out I could run (in place) and keep doing melee attacks to get down. And even though there is a quicksave, it doesn’t work all the time. After 2 playthroughs of the same ~10 minute segment to rescue Archangel ending in defeat, I quit for the night. I’m trying to like the game.

Just finished Bioshock (20 hours of playing according to Steam), now starting Bioshock 2.

I really enjoyed the game, and frankly would have been happy to have my arsenal reduced to three weapons - wrench, shotgun, and flame thrower. The wrench was my go-to weapon, so much so that I just beat on the final Boss with it until victorious.

Just finished Spec Ops: the Line which was a great game for what I paid. At $30, I’d have been less impressed but, for $6, it was well worth it.

Started LA Noire the other night but it’s not grabbing me. I’ll give it a little longer but may wind up calling it a loss.

The Legend of Grimrock level editor just came out so I’ve been playing some custom made dungeons on that while working on one of my own.

Never did get back to Mass Effect 2 much. Just doesn’t grab me.

I’ve been looking for a good fantasy mod for Civ V, but that doesn’t seem like it’s happening. So I went back to Civ 4 and the Fall from Heaven 2 mod. I had played it years ago but not much. Now I’m trying to figure it out, it’s much more complex than vanilla Civ 4, but it’s very well done. I keep getting killed by a big stack of doom, which I think means I need to get some good spells or units that can attack a stack at once. I think the author got hired by Stardock software.

I picked up Black Mesa (retro trip) and Dishonored.

Finished Final Fantasy XIII, but I didn’t switch to The Last Story. Instead, I finally got around to playing and finishing** Torchlight** (the first one) and am now playing Xenoblade Chronicles. I’m also helping my 5 year-old son with Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story on the DS.

I’m playing some XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Not the 1990s version, but the new 2012 reboot. Excellent game so far- captures the creepy tense feel of the original, and the excellent graphics/sound don’t distract like in some games.

The Binding of Isaac. Best $8 I ever spent. I must’ve put well over 30 hours into this beauty already, and I only bought it a few weeks ago.

Still subjecting myself to Diablo 3. Not totally sure why.

Still playing Chrono Cross. I’m waffling between going to FATE and trying to collect some more Level 7 elements.

League of Legends and Guild Wars 2, with a bit of Torchlight 2 here and there.

Solium Infernum and Portal

Yes, the original Portal (I’m the only person in the world that hasn’t played that game until this year).

Solium Infernum is an awesome strategy game.

I’ve kind of given up on Bioshock2. They remapped some of the controls (WHY?), and I’m starting out as a “Big Daddy”, which f-ed with my preferred “beat their azzes with the wrench” play style. I don’t feel like finding drill fuel box after drill fuel container merely to hit someone, and I don’t feel like playing long enough to find out if I get out of the “Big Daddy” suit so I can get back to my wrench.

Yeah, I know - stupid reason to stop a game. But life is short, y’all.

Started Bad Company 2. It’s making me feel like I really suck. 'Cause I sorta do. But more so than I usually do in FPS’s so I dunno what that’s all about.

Thinking of starting up Mafia. Any thoughts on it?
