What video game are you playing right now?

I recently started XCom: Enemy Unknown, but the trailer for Bioshock Infinite has me missing my plasmids and Ayn Rand, so I’m heading on back to Rapture for the first two Bioshock games.

I just started Spec Ops: The Line. Normally I couldn’t care less about military shooters, but I’ve heard that this one is more of a deconstruction of military shooters.

So far, the game isn’t “fun,” per se. I more feel like I’m being pulled down into a morally unjustifiable massacre as the result of a tragic misunderstanding. I like the idea of video games provoking emotions more varied and complex than enjoyment, fear, or frustration.

I’ve been playing Tower Wars on Steam, but I can’t seem to find anyone else I know who has been… I do ok, but really need more help with strategy and can’t find anything useful on google…

Playing Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. I’m not too far in, but so far they storyline is on par with 999, and the puzzles and presentation are much improved. That’s really saying something, since I thought 999 was a great game.

Pokemon Black 2.

I just came in here to add that my Assassin’s Creed III was delivered! I can’t wait to get off work!

Can you start a thread telling how you like it? I’ve been on the fence on whether I should pick it up or not.

Still playing Need for Speed The Run, dislike the storyline and quicktime events, but luckily 95% of the game is driving, arcadish but lots of fun with varied courses.

Also playing Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, bought it with a friend because it has multiplayer. I have a hard time finding multiplayer matches sometimes but the single player is plenty fun.

Finished this, and I’ll have to clean up after having my mind blown before I start something else :D.

I’ve been playing Rocksmith for about three weeks. It’s similar to Guitar Heros with big difference being it requires the use a real electric guitar.

The guitar is the game controller. There are at least a couple dozen songs. The idea is score points for accurate play. I’m still very new to it,but it’s been a lot of fun and I’m learning to play guitar.

I bought *Dishonored *for the PS3 last week. I like it. It’s not just an action beat 'em up/shoot 'em up, though it is a first-person-shooter, for lack of a better discription. There’s a lot of Tomb Raider in it - puzzles to solve; different ways to complete missions; linking powers together; it’s pretty creative when you get down to it. And the Steampunk theme is different.

And then I always have the sports games on a steady loop: MLB: The Show '12; FIFA ‘12’; Madden '13; I’m trying to get better at NBA 2K 12, but I suck at the Be A Pro mode. I don’t get it – I’m supposed to be a 6’7" 6th overall, first round draft pick, but I can’t dunk a basketball - even in practice - until I play through three or four seasons. It’s maddening, but I digress.

Dungeons and Dragons Online (ddo.com) of all things. I always liked the basic world design, but was turned off by the extreme difficulty curve for solo play (I can rarely get a group together for the required hour or two, and playing with pick-up groups is like reading Yahoo Answers). So I gave it up a few (well, 6) years back.

It’s since gone free to play, and has been retuned to a more standard MMO-like difficulty. It’s still hard for casters, etc., but not utterly impossible. And the world has expanded considerably, including a new expansion pack, despite the relatively small player base. I started playing a couple months ago, and I’m enjoying the (admittedly somewhat retro) experience enough to have paid for the “VIP” status.

Minecraft lite on iPhone.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

Halo 2. I had meant to replay the whole series before Halo 4 came out, but it turns out 20-credit semesters are a lot of work, so I’m a bit behind.

I finished Bioshock 2, but I apparently clicked the wrong difficulty setting as I found it rather easy.

I just started a new game of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, as a female Gangrel this time. It’s been a while. I may do another runthrough with a Malkavian, they’re fun. I use Wesp5’s Unofficial Patch, the plus version.

Primarily, right now, I’m running through my 'Zerker’s NG++ in Torchlight 2 (just hit level 95!), the Sisters of Battle campaign in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm (Boy, does that stretch out my Steam right click menu!), and on my DS, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

Dawn of War is fun, but holy crap, the missions in Campaign mode are LONG. I haven’t managed one in under an hour, yet, and I’ve only done 4! (I had to make 4 or 5 separate attempts at wiping out the Imperial Guard…tenacious little buggers.) And I find it funny that each faction is referred to as a race, despite 3 of them being human (SoB, IG, and Space Marines).

T2 ironically seems to get easier each time I NG…mostly because I do it after spending time in the Mapworks and overlevelling a bit. Heh.

I was going to ask you if that’s worth playing, but given that you ARE playing it, I suppose that’s my answer. I keep hearing good things about it, but it’s like 8 years old now, so I hesitate. I’m afraid it will look like the original Doom, or will be primitive by today’s standards of gameplay/interface.

I’ve played quite a bit of Borderlands 2 in the past month, but am about done with it for awhile. I played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons Online this year, but haven’t played for a few months now. Same with Battlefield 3.

I’m looking forward to the Steam end-of-year sales, hoping to load up on more fun on the cheap. I’m thinking about Skyrim, but while I loved Fallout 3 & New Vegas, I really did not get into Oblivion, so I don’t know what to think.

I looked at Rocksmith since the idea of learning to play guitar has great appeal, but I fear it will only tease me, and I won’t really learn how to play.

The graphics are noticeably aged, but not Doom old. Since you mention Steam, you can just go to the store page for it and check out the screenshots. And the original release was seriously buggy; you definitely want to play a patched version like I am. The official patch and the Unofficial Patch I mentioned (and some others) are available here by the way. I recommend the unofficial patch; it adds a lots of features that were intended but never made it to the original release.
