(I haven’t read all the replys to this thread yet, so forgive me if this is a repeat)
I would like to see some mix of a Real Time Strategy, RPG, and FPS.
WC3 has already ventured into the area of RTS/RPG. But I think Something like Starcraft, with heros and such, and option to enter the heros body and play as him. Go around battling the Zerg armada in a marines body with my Halo/CS skills… Would be so fun.
The only flaw I see in this game genre would be the controlling of the base, while you are in the heros body. But that could be controlled by setting commands such as… Make a [building 1] in 45 sec, or when I get 275 minerals.
Another gametype would be a mixture of Pokemon and Super Smash Bros.
I know… Pokemon… little kids game… I used to play it when it first came out when I was in middle school… But with a battle system like SSB, it would be quite fun.
Another game that is actually coming out, is Unreal Championship(or tournament) 2: Liandri Conflict. It’s FPS with more hand to hand combat and it seems quite cool.
I’d give a right arm* to get hold of Baldur’s Gate 3 - The Black Hound which sounded like an absolutely kick arse RPG. Unfortunately, like Fallout 3, it fell foul of the financial incompetence and all-round stupidity of Interplay’s management, getting cancelled when those numpties decided they’d rather extend the Dark Alliance license for twice as long than hang on to the rights for a game they’d been developing for two years.
On the plus side, since Interplay looks to be thrashing about in its death throes, it’s possible that both these games might get sold off to pay its considerable debts. Troika has been expressing an interest in buying the Fallout license for some time, but has always been rebuffed - they might have more luck when Ineptplay finally goes bust.
Alas, for BG3, anyone who tried to finish and release it would still have to deal with the unholy trinity of Atari, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, which doesn’t exactly bode well for an M rated game apparently full of moral abiguity and genuine opportunites for evil characters. But still, I can live in hope (and keep my fingers crossed for Dragon Age)
*Obviously not my right arm - that’s got my mouse hand on the end of it - how would I play games without that - but definitely someone’s right arm.
Checks forum, notes this is not the Pit, decides not to mention Herve Caen’s arm would do fine.
