I posted mine over there, yesterday, but here it is again:
Wow I’m such a nerd.
October 1999, my very first order. Two VHS tapes of the Earthworm Jim cartoon.
I can’t really remember when it was, possibly 1999 or 2000. It was the Les Miserables - Complete Symphonic Recording on CD. It might have been the first thing I bought online, period.
Huh. I’m pretty sure I bought stuff before the year 2000. But according to them, it was a copy of Dorothy Dunnett’s “Gemini” and a Harry Potter book.
Looking at my buying history is … odd. Some years I’ll make maybe two purchases. Other years, it goes on for three pages. Part of this depends on whether or not I’m participating in their Prime shipping or not. If I’m not, I bundle my purchases to get the free shipping. I apparently have a habit of mildly splurging right after I get my tax refund – I’ll usually put in an order for a handful of books in late April or early May.
I’m getting a weird sense of time displacement looking at some of the items. Some of them I could have sworn I bought maybe a couple of years ago (but it was 7!).
The earliest that I have access to: June 7 1998

Shopping for my kids and my kitchen, evidently. We still do like our Mad Libs. I may have to order a few more; I have an eight year old who loves to play.
My teenager who wanted the Skateboarding magazine has since put aside his skateboard and picked up a guitar. Sometimes I buy him strings from Amazon when I need to get an order up to the 25.00 threshhold.
According to my account history on Amazon, in December of '99, I bought Affirmation, a CD by Savage Garden. Must’ve been a Christmas present for my wife.
I’m pretty sure I had bought other things (i.e., books) earlier, but it’s possible that I didn’t set up the account until then.
In July, 2007: 1 of: Creative EP-630 - Headphones ( in-ear ear-bud )
Very good headphones, but now I’m rocking V-Moda Vibe headphones, which are even better.
September 1, 2003 - Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
Huh, mine only goes back to 2001. We must’ve moved or gotten a new internet provider around that time:

In August 2003, three Johnny Cash CDs:
At Folsom Prison
Unchained
American Recordings
They’re still coming up regularly on my iPod.
December 1998
A New Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry : Their Rites, Literature, and History/2 Vols in 1 (Ars Magna Latomorum : And of Cognate Instituted Mysteries)
By Arthur Edward Waite
August of 1997 (I hadn’t recalled my orders went that far back!):
Four books:
- Mystery! : A Celebration : Stalking Public Television’s Greatest Sleuths
-
The Rise of Endymion : A Novel
…and two volumes of the “Bone” series of graphic novels: - Eyes of the Storm
- The Dragonslayer
I recall regularly watching “Mystery!” on PBS at the time.
I was and am a fan of Dan Simmons, author of The Rise of Endymion
And my discovery of Jeff Smith’s “Bone” series was the start of my still current enthusiasm for graphic novels.
