Having lots of better things to do, but not doing them enabled me to spend all morning surfing through the SDMB People Pages.
I may be clinically insane, but I wondered what was going through the dopers mind when they were having their picture taken…

A kind of similar thread was started a while back. Not many people took very kindly to it. You can find that here.
My intentions were not to poke fun at fellow dopers or be hurtful about their appearances.
It’s meant to throw a different angle onto the photograph in a lighthearted way.
I do however understand that the it could be used in the wrong way. If the moderators wanna lock this thread down - then please do so.
Sometimes I would kill for that edit button to work. Or maybe even a time machine.
Just wait until I get around to scanning my picture in. People will be staring at it for hours, trying to understand the ineffable uniqueness that is Smeghead.
I completely understand that. However, the person who started the thread I mentioned in my above post wasn’t poking fun either or trying to be hurtful. It’s just the atmosphere here. People put their picture up in trust. They don’t want people making jokes (no matter how intended) about their looks. That’s my understanding of the whole thing anyway.
I don’t want to be the cause of any unfriendliness to fellow dopers. As you can tell by my meagre post count I’m fairly new here and should probably learn the merits of the search button before starting contentious threads.
I’m requesting that this thread be locked.

That said, Silver_Fire is right. A lot of people don’t take kindly to humor about their looks, no matter how the comments are intended.
Oh yeah, one more thing. There are two errors in the thread title.
I don’t think it’s supposed to be about taking jabs at people’s looks. I think this was supposed to be a sort of “give this photo a caption” thing.
True. But it’s obvious that people’s feelings would be hurt, even if they did understand that it’s just good-natured ribbing. OTOH, if it were in the Pit, it would be a whole nother thing. Once you step into the Pit, all bets are off.
I wouldn’t worry Chris, no one gets it. I can’t type. My use of English is terrible.
