I wish I had someone to mildly gripe about to get back on track but all y’all have been far too pleasant lately (or more likely, I haven’t been in that many threads).
If you stop paying attention for a couple weeks or so, that’s not the same as keeping away from any legitimate sources of information for an entire lifetime.
The only political information you need for the rest of your life is never, ever vote R. The rest is just details. Irrelevant non-decisionmaking details.
Or you can destroy whatever remaining mental health you believe you have.
The choice is yours. But IMO that is the choice you face. I wish you only success and health however you achieve it.
We apologize for the fault in the junior modding. Those responsible for junior modding the people in charge of junior modding who have just been junior modded have themselves been junior modded.
I disagree. What i find helpful is reading a good novel that has nothing to do with the things that’s upsetting me. I loaded my Kindle with a couple prior to this election, and it’s been extremely helpful. Maybe a Kindle isn’t a “computer”, but i kinda think it is.
There’s also a lot of decent content on YouTube that’s good for taking my mind off stressors. I’ve been watching a lot of cooking videos.
Agree. Cooking videos and other forms of non-political content are lifesavers for me right now. Podcasts in particular are great because I can listen while cooking and doing household chores, and fall asleep to a calm voice reading stories at night if need be.
I use the Kindle app on my tablet or phone to read stuff that gives me a good way to forget things that stress me out.
Or watch a dumb, fun movie or TV show rather than reading political articles or watching political broadcasts.
Obsessing over something negative isn’t healthy, especially if it’s something you can’t do anything about. There’s room to exist between that and complete ignorance, and I try my best to stay in that space.
It’s not allowed in p&e and gd. A link that has a descriptive onebox is sometimes okay in mpsims and some of the lighter fora. In particular, a news link with a good onebox and a clear title is usually adequate for breaking news. There may not be a lot to say when the news breaks beyond, “giant earthquake reported in this place, details still unclear”.
Assuming that the above post isn’t LHoD saying that they agree that human civilization will be consumed in nuclear fire worldwide in the next twenty years, this exchange is a good time to remind folks that just because Der Trihs is (probably) wrong about the end of life as we know it, and may be wrong about Republican voters being inherently eager to commit actual gun-to-head genocide, doesn’t mean he’s wrong about, say, the seriously bad vibes and plans the incoming administration and Republicans in general have.
I’ve been watching a lot of “Grand Designs,” a sort of British high-end House Hunters in which couples spend way more money than I will ever have building some very strange houses.
