I might add that i have spent decades as a professional trying to make the best decisions possible when it’s not possible to get conclusive evidence. It’s literally my job to evaluate plausibility and usefulness of data. So I’d rather not play by different rules that people care deeply about.
Chela posted this ..
Aloe Vera or aloe Vera hydro gels have definitely been peer reviewed and proven to promote healing.
.. in that thread. A factual answer to the OP question.
Yes, one of the few. Maybe 8 or so out of the 31 responses actually answered the question, including your response.
Most of the rest are personal anecdotes praising bag balm and other home remedies.
No less an authority than Peyton Manning recommends rubbing some dirt on it.
I hope that allusion isn’t too obscure.
A chaw of tobacky slapped on an arrow wound works in westerns.
Fortunately google helps us non-US residents.
Maybe you could add that to the personal anecdote you posted in the thread.
Actually, I see I reported that thread early on.
No response from any mod.
Fuck you. I posted the exact same thing the doc posted. TYVM
What you posted was an anecdote so you could share what you personally like to do for yourself with a small wound. That’s not what was being asked for by the OP of that thread. “The doc” posted his conclusions after many years of experience treating such wounds as a doctor, for (probably) hundreds of different people. That is what was being asked for by the OP of that thread. I understand that you probably cannot tell the difference, but many other people can.
There’s is absolutely no difference. I said it as a patient. He said it as a doc.
Exactly the same treatment.
After someone made a joke. AFTER.
You’re just making things up now.
Are you an actuary, perchance?
Yes, i am. Property casualty, and currently working very part time pricing major accounts.
Did you think the doc’s answer was what was being asked for? If so, why? What might have made it valid?
If you didn’t think his answer was quite what was being asked for, why did you do the same thing?
Are you mentally defective? The OP had barely gotten any factual responses of “scientifically proven”, “legitimate peer reviewed materials”. You were post #8. Idk how you managed to wait that long. You’ve had problems for years spewing opinions and barely related anecdotes in FQ. You don’t see how much that degrades FQ?
There’s no other factual answer than what doc said and many others.
There’s no magic ointment. No magic juice. No secret sauce. Clean it. Cover it.
Thats all you can do.
Any more is over kill, til you know more.
As in, an infection sets in.
Are you just mean? You don’t have to make snide remarks about my every post.
Get something else to do.
So sad. Really.
I followed the rules of the board. They don’t fit your criteria? Contact someone who gives a shit. 'Cause I don’t.
ETA…I posted because I read the thread. The joke about the Jaguar was funny. I liked it. So sue me. I posted. I added my 2 cents. Padding the truthful way to treat wounds as stated by the doctor.
And before you get all verklempt, I AM an expert on wound care.
Only 3 million(approx) needle pricks. Blood draws. Countless surgeries.
A zillion accidents from the cat bites and scratches, burns and cuts.
And I raised 4 kids. And numerous animals.
I do know how and when to treat these things. I do know when to put bandaids on, and how to.
I know of what I speak.
The thread should never have been in FQ. Anyway.
I feel bad for saying “Fuck you”.
Your comment was unwarranted.
You should just make this your tagline.
Beckdawrek: Bad language or abuse,
I never, never use, whatever the emergency;
Though “bother it” I may occasionally say,
I never use the big, big F —
Pit Chorus: What, never?
Beckdawrek: No, never!
Pit Chorus: What, never?
Beckdawrek: Hardly ever!
Pit Chorus: Hardly ever swears a big, big F —
Then give three cheers, and one cheer more,
For the puritan Captain of the Message Board!
Then give three cheers, and one cheer more,
For the Captain of the Message Board!
Just the stupid ones. Wait..
(Raises hand)
I’d only heard the words “aloe vera” somewhere, not what it is until now. And have never heard of “bag balm”.
