What were you THINKING?

SavageCabbage made a very bad smell.

Miller cleaned it up. Eeeek!

Was that a newbie troll now banned / cornfielded?

If so this ain’t the thread for that. Try over here:

ETA: Found it: SDMB Search. Generic drive by asshole not yet banned.

ETA2: I posted there giving you credit for the point-out.

They were banned quite a while ago. When I first checked hours ago they were banned.

Remember, you have to click on their profile to see it. The profile has said “this user is suspended” for (I believe) 4 hours now. Though you’re right, this thread is definitely not for one-and-done banned trolls.

Thanks. I’d forgotten that Discourse uses “suspended” as the status we call “Banned” from Ye Darke Ageees of Ye Olden vBullitine.

I’d mistakenly interpreted that as “in timeout pending a modloop decision”

D’oh! :man_facepalming:

D’oh. Me too. Thx for that @LSLGuy .

But someone is featured greatly in that thread, (I read it)that we’ve come to know.

Hmm. It’s ancient of course but now I’ll have to read it. Thanks. I think.

It can mean either. A user can be suspended for an hour or forever.

Pretty sure that someone has their own thread in the pit, and doesn’t belong in this one, either.

(Maybe multiple pit threads.)

Ahh..okay. I’ll remember that.

That one from 2003 was kinda a who’s who of problem children right from the git-go. Coincidentally, that thread was started very close to when I joined SDMB. And I missed it way back when.

Quite the blast from the past of long gone major problem children, still here minor problem children, and good posters, both current and historical.

This is why I like old threads. I never know many of the Dopers but I think some were really funny and clever and clearly the baddies.

We were far more interesting in Ye Olden Tymes. Far more off-putting too.

There is a certain elegance to @Miller response, I must say.

Even after apologizing to me in that thread, he’s back at it today. He’s posted in that thread 14 times, and nearly all of those amount to telling other posters “I disagree with you, and you are wrong.” He seems to feel compelled to reply to every post in which someone indicates that they don’t like that phrase, to tell them that their reasoning is flawed.

I guess he’s found a new hobby.

Makes me wonder whether his Mom is one of those lovely black church ladies he always hears that uses “Have a blessed day” everywhere all the time.

What’s weird is that “have a blessed day” makes me think Pagan/Wiccan. It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever heard from a Christian. (And I am a Christian, though I don’t participate in organized worship or anything.)

Now, if some skeevy looking guy tells you “Be sweet”. Run. Fast

Well, as they say Sunday is the most segregated day of the week.

I heard it when living in Maryland, Nevada, and Georgia, and although I never asked, I have little doubt the speakers would have self-identified as Christian.

I haven’t heard it a much here in Massachusetts.

I live in Massachusetts and work for a company that has offices all over the country. To me this is definitely a Southern thing. We have a big office about 60 miles from Atlanta and another in Louisiana. I hear it a lot from those folks.

They are very, very churchy people and very, very MAGA and cannot seem to distinguish between “good” and “religious and patriotic”. Bible verses in email signatures, meetings that start with a “moment of reflection”, etc.

And “godless” being a common insult directed at us Washington/New York/New England folks.
