If you really believe this place is useless (and will never listen to your enlightened viewpoint), and you don’t want to learn anything from others’ experiences… why are you here?
In anyone else it’d be astonishing that they’d consider that response a meaningful or clever one. In you? I’ve only started developing an opinion of you over the past week, and you’re sure solidifying that opinion.
I’d take you to that new Pit thread for people acting like dumbasses but who aren’t worth the energy of a full pitting, but–hey, lookie, here you are!

I do not see how the post you are responding to merits what you said in your post. Are you dragging some reactions in from other threads or something? It was @gnoitall who made the sweeping pronouncement.
Oh, yeah, I’m lumping in everyone who has been or should be mentioned in this thread… “Cafe Society is entirely about hipster flexing” is mild compared to the Sam Stone types that, when challenged, will say things like “Of course you’d say that, it’s what the SDMB hive mind tells you to believe.”
Short, but annoying, lecture: if you quote someone, and then say “if you really believe so and so” the clear implication is that you are targeting the poster you quoted. If you want to make more general statements, either don’t quote, or change your wording to be more clear. End of short but annoying lecture.

First, it’s true, but we’ve all done fucked up in the way @digs has. Credit to both for identifying and explaining, and owning up on it, unlike other individuals such as the one digs cited, who have looooong pit threads for that among other reasons.

No surprise - they’ve made precisely 14 posts since joining, and literally half of them in that thread.

Creepy, but probably-maybe not a troll. MilitaryGuy just has this obsession with occasions when one is required to be nude (and, incidentally, subject to inspection) in front of other people. There is his MPSIMS thread about military intake medical inspections, which he tried to duplicate in another forum, and then he also revived a zombie thread just to comment on someone’s story that airport Customs and Immigration strip-searched some people (at some time in the past) in view of other passengers – an incident mentioned in passing in a thread about something else. His own triggering event happened 25 or 30 years ago, it’s not clear why he’s obsessing about it now.

It’s like he doesn’t remember anything two posts back, has no ability to reconsider a position, and will twist himself into absurd contortions in order to avoid admitting he’s wrong. Engaging with him is like juggling spaghetti.
For some reason I always hope this’ll be the time where he says, “Huh. I can see what you mean”–or at the very least, explains his position with a minimum level of cogency and reason such that anyone else can figure out what the hell he’s on about.
But it never, never is, and never will be.
The whole Dinklage thread is like banging your head against a wall.
People will tie themselves into knots to virtue signal how “anti-woke” they are. Add you can see, they’ll even go as far as making things up to feel persecuted about.
He’s a troll. He even admitted it on the boards. He loves to “challenge intellectuals” or whatever by posting things he knows will frustrate them. When he blatantly admitted to trolling, that’s when he went on ignore.
It will never happen because he doesn’t engage in honest debate. This is like hoping that this time, Lucy is going to let you kick the football.
He’s a waste of time.
