Pardon my poor post since I’m away from home and doing this on my phone. But we tend to be better as a group at negative than positive reinforcement. Strictly IMHO of course. And your valid concerns may be one of the reasons why. I did start a “this post/poster made my day” thread a while back and that concern was raised. It may well have been by you! Won’t check though on this device.
Possible, but I kinda hope not. While I do have a firm opinion on the matter, it’s not to the point where I want to be a constant nag on the subject. There are far worse things happening in the world than “who’s your favorite/the funniest/whatever-est” poster" questions.
What’s your read on Imuseless? That poster just resurrected my thread about those who support “prison justice”. The post is a word salad containing a grand total of one punctuation mark. I remember a thread they started which was also a wall o’ text. I tend to just glide on by that and pay no further attention to such a poster.
I thought they were already banned???
What forum is the prison justice thread in? I’m not finding what you are talking about in a cursory search.
ETA: you mean this post?
If they want to mutilate like rip peoples arms or legs along with paralyze bad people in prison then the government have to give paralyzed mutilated bad people free homes in rehabilitation facilities in USA just like they did to Cheryl Weimer and the sex offender in Ohio because they got permanently paralyzed.
I’m not amused.
(All over the board today)
It’s in The BBQ Pit. The thread is To those who support murder and/or rape in prison: What’s the rest of your plan? and you got the right post.
That might be the most glorious thing I have ever seen.
How am I suppose to follow that?
I won’t speak to the DrDeth comment, but I will speak to the rest.
I’ve spotted him on another message board. Not as “Jackson99,” but certainly as “Username99,” where “Username” subs for his actual username over there. Same thread titles, same OPs, as we see here. He’s just as clumsy there as he is here.
Thing is, that that board thrives on unsupported assertions, where all it takes is to say something, and it must be true. Cites? Pffft, who needs those? When a Canadian issue comes up over there, it doesn’t matter how many actual Canadians with actual Canadian experience with the matter at hand, comment how wrong the OP is and can cite so (Globe and Mail, CBC News, CTV News, etc.), they’re shouted down by Americans, who (if they absolutely must cite anything) cite Fox News and OANN and (shudder) Rebel News, along with other far-right and sketchily-researched sources (Daily Mail, Gateway Pundit, etc.)
And that’s where our friend finds himself: coming from a board where “my cite is my post,” to a board where cites to reputable sources are required. In the Canadian public transit thread, he’s dismissing the experiences of Canadians who have used their public transit. That’s him keeping with the spirit of the other board ,where we Canucks are apparently all dying because the government controls health care, until we get too expensive to keep alive, at which point, the government kills us off through MAID. To save money, of course, so we don’t have to spend money on defense, which the US provides. No matter how many comments to the contrary from actual Canadians are offered, apparently, Americans are better-informed about Canadian issues than we Canadians, who live with this stuff, are.
So that’s where Jackson99 is coming from: Canadian views on Canadian public transit can be dismissed, because they come from Canadians. Only American views count, apparently.
I’d crafted a considered response (and I’m sure I’m not alone in my considerations), from which I abstained through my ongoing attempts to not, as much as possible, be a jerk. But since I see that post has been noted by others, my response would have gone something like this:
“They need to do way instain mother who kill thier babbys, becuse these babby cant fright back? It was on the news this mroing a mother in ar who had kill her three kids, they are taking the three babby back to new york too lady to rest. my pary are with the father who lost his chrilden ; i am truley sorry for your lots”
I noticed uselessness does do a bunch of convenient mis-spelled words. I wonder is this is a troll-ruse?
Well for one thing, it’s a spectacularly appropriate username.
But here’s an interesting question. What happens when Imuseless joins a thread started by Jackson99? Do you get double the dumbassery, or is it more of an exponential function where you get, say, four times the dumbassery?
We now have the answer because this creature has opined in Jackson99’s previously cited Canadian transit thread. I’m not going to quote it directly so as not to create a back link, I’ll just copy and paste.
Item 1:
Most people in Canada can’t afford a car because some jobs pay crappy wages and live with their parents, roommates or are homeless in the woods …
“Homeless in the woods”? I think he has Canadians confused with black bears. As for not being able to afford a car because you have a shitty job, there’s more projection going on here than in an IMAX theater.
Item 2:
Also it’s hard to get a drivers license in Canada because you need to do a written test …
I gather from this announcement that Imuseless has failed one or more driving tests, which is unsurprising considering his intellectual prowess.
It’s been more years than I care to remember since I took mine, but as I recall back in the age of dinosaurs the written part was a series of multiple choice questions asking things like “what should you do when approaching an intersection where the traffic light just turned yellow?” and offering choices like “floor the accelerator and rush through as fast as possible”. IOW, these are not propositions from Wittgenstein; they are questions my dog could answer, but apparently Imuseless cannot.
You also have to wonder why anyone would want a driver’s license in Canada since no one can afford a car, and many of us are living in the woods anyway.
You’ve mentioned before that you sometimes check out right-wing nutjob message boards. Many thanks for this public service. Seriously. I sometimes check out the Fox News website after a major political news event, and it’s painful.
That’s a very wise observation, @Beckdawrek. And it belies your self-deprecating description as a dingbat, which you absolutely are not. You’re a person with deep life experience and the wisdom that comes with it. I’ve said before that many of your posts remind me of the book Life Among the Savages in which renowned writer Shirley Jackson relates humourous anecdotes about her family life.
God knows you might rip a hole in Space/Time.
I know we’ve moved on from it, but I just think it would be hilarious if someone started a “favorite poster” thread and everybody just named themselves.
Double-Dumbass on you.
Oh, please. You’re telling me this gem from the useless one isn’t the Platonic model of logic?
Canada recognizes the US drivers license as relevant so you won’t need to do a driving test in Canada since Americans and Canadians drive in the same side of the road.
I don’t read a lot of Covid-related threads, so I haven’t really noticed SunTanLotion as a nonsense-poster. But for what it’s worth, she said in the Ouija board thread that she believed in demons. That did raise my eyebrow.
But I’ve heard that 90% of Canadians live within 100 miles of an American dumpster, where they dive for food. It’s why dumpsters have to be made with heavy locking lids.
Oh God no. I can’t stand that guy.
