The show also turned to crap after Diana Rigg left.
I can’t ever remember my mother talking about a crush, but my dad loved his redheads and Rita Hayworth and Maureen O’Hara were his favs.
My mom was in to Mark Spitz.
No idea who my dad was in to. My mom, I guess
Mom liked Cornel Wilde and Clark Gable, Dad liked Marilyn Monroe Julie Christie and Jill St John.
Grandma: Neil Diamond.
Dad: I remember him saying Jamie Lee Curtis was pretty once or twice.
Mom: Mel Gibson, not sure if that’s still true now that everybody knows he’s an anti-Semite. Me and my siblings would kind of mock her and refer to him as “Mel-baby”.
My mother had a crush on Johnny Mathis. I’m assuming that my father had celebrity crushes, but he’s never mentioned them.
As per my dad, mom crushed hard on Tony from West Side Story. Dad still loves Chaka Khan and Diahann Carroll. His (not so) secret stash of porn heavily featured Vanessa Del Rio.
Pops had a crush on Mary Tyler Moore.
My mother had a thing for Paul McCartney. (My mom was an adolescent/teenager during the 60s.)
I’m having a hard time even wrapping my finger around this question. I can’t remember my parents having crushes in the sense that this thread is talking about. My dad used to sing Mozart arias when I was a kid, that’s the closest I can come.
My mom had a crush on Dan Haggerty of “Grizzly Adams” fame.
I don’t know who my dad had a crush on.
Dad: Bridgette Bardot and Teresa Brewer.
Mom: Cary Grant and Burt Reynolds.
For mum it was basically the mainstays of the cover of Tiger Beat circa 1971 (Donny Osmond, David Cassidy, etc.) No idea on dad.
My maternal grandmother: Clark Gable. She even had a picture of him (a present my mom got her at a Disney World Disney(-formerly MGM) Studios gift shop) on her vanity mirror.
My mom: Robert Redford and Chad Everett. She went through a period of having to see almost every Redford flick with her best friend (her favorites from then and to this day being Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and The Sting, and like mother like daughter, my favorites of Redford’s (and Newman’s too) as well). Also had a time where Medical Center was far and away her ‘must see TV’ above most everything else.
Mom loved David Lee Roth (of Van Halen) and Dwight Schultz (Murdock from the A-Team).
Dad loved Stephanie Zimbalist (of Remington Steele).
My mother (who was 33 and married with children when it came out) went to see South Pacific four times, something she never did with other movies. She would not say whether it was Rossano Brazzi or John Kerr who was fluttering her petticoat, but I suspect the latter*.
My father was too good at keeping secrets for us kids to guess whether he had crushes or not.
eta: *Or I could be projecting - when I saw this movie later, John Kerr was the one I was interested in.
My mom loved William Holden. My dad loved Barbara Stanwyck.
Mom: Steve McQueen
Dad: Gina Lollabrigida
My mom, who is in here 80s now, used to watch The Man from U.N.C.L.E. back in the early 60s, partly because of her crush on David McCallum. She was delighted to rediscover him on NCIS.
My mom ached for Tyrone Power. When I was a little older, I noticed the resemblance between Tyrone Power and my dad. At least around the eyes and eyebrows - both of them had big expressive black eyebrows.
Hey, I agree with my mom!
My dad - no one that he ever mentioned to us kids.
