My mum was utterly distraught when Elvis Presley died. I didn’t understand at the time, because I was only a kid, but now I think I do. Elvis was a huge look into another world, my mum having grown up in poverty, and a massive war etc. He just hit at the right time for her.
Mom: Monte Markham, Cliff Robertson, she loved Hotel, maybe because of James Brolin
Dad: Loved Three’s Company, I always suspected it was because of Suzanne Somers. Years later he asked me whatever happend to her (he had no knowledge of Step by Step, She’s the Sheriff, her Vegas shows or exercise and nutrition products)
My mom used to watch Friday Night Boxing every week, because she had a crush on Joe Lewis, the Brown Bomber.
My dad never admitted to ever being attracted to anyone other than my mom, I suspect because his crushes were probably male.
Sinatra, Bacall.
Dad: None I know of.
Mom: Sergio Franchi.
My mom’s biggest celebrity crush, which lasted decades, was on Robert DeNiro. He was it in her eyes. She also had a thing for Mark Harmon and Kevin Kline.
My dad has never mentioned one, nor do I remember my mom ever teasing him about one. I can tell you who he thinks is terribly unattractive though – Meryl Streep and Glenn Close.
Dad: Shirley MacLaine
Mom: ???
The Laura Petrie edition, or the Mary Richards version? :dubious:
I didn’t and either did my parents they really had no crushes , my mom liked
Betty Davis movies . Dad never talked about any movies stars he liked , I think that was a smart move.
I remember seeing Elke in A Shot in the Dark when I was nine. I hadn’t squirmed in my theater seat the way I did since I saw Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot when I was four!*
*I was a very precocious child! :o
Dad thought Sophia Loren was the fox of all time. I think he also had a thing for Raquel Welch, whose name he affectionately pronounced “Ra-kwell.”
Mom thought Peter Falk was sexy.
I remember mom having crushes on John Davidson and (I think) John Saxon.
Dad had a thing for Joan Collins.
When my mom was young, she loved Gene Autry. In the 70’s, she lusted after Eric Estrada from CHiPs. Enough so that I bought her a big poster of him… and she hung it up in her closet. Dad came home from work that night, opened the closet door and yelped, it startled him so badly. In the 80’s, her fancy turned to Tom Selleck.
Dad adored Doris Day. And later…Cher.
Mom- Pat Boone, and later Jan-Michel Vincent
Dad - Jean Simmons and Maureen O’Hara
My father had quite a crush on Lena Horne. So much so, in fact, that he never quite forgave Ava Gardner for playing the part of Julie in Showboat even though MGM never had any intention of giving Horne the role.
My mother never mentioned a specific crush, but she had a lot of record albums featuring handsome baritone singers.
Many different ones over the years but they both agreed that Juliet Prowse was hands down & forever the best ‘legs’ out there. Several times they bought up front seats at live shows so they could watch her, see her sweat and grunt while wearing a big smile ( all the dancers really ) because they appreciated the effort it took to do what they did.
Mom loved Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink. Both of whom I find very vaguely creepy.
I don’t know any of my mom’s crushes, but I know my dad thought Elizabeth Montgomery and Goldie Hawn were hot.
Gregory Peck for my mom, at least according to my dad. My mom said she just liked the name. That didn’t stop her, when she actually met Gregory Peck many years after I was born, from telling him, “I think I named my son after you.” He replied, “Yes, I hear that quite often.”
My dad liked Judi Dench… and even dated her briefly in the Fifties!
