My first thought was chocolate cake or something extremely chocolatey, but I’m sure I’d get tired of that fairly soon. So vegetarian pizza with garlic white sauce instead of tomato-based sauce, and double artichokes. Lots and lots of artichokes.
Reser’s brand potato salad, deviled egg variety, please.
Fruit, fruit, fruit…endless fruit. I’ve always loved it, always ate lots of it. Travelling opened a world of yet unknown fruits to me, heaven! But then I grew older and my digestive track began to complain about this quantity of fruit. As the years passed my capacity to ‘live’ on fruit kept shrinking, A titch too much of any one fruit and the results could be explosive. I still love fruit and would live on it if I could.
(Recently bought a pomelo, took me a week to consume so as not to upset my stomach. In my younger days I’d have it all eaten in two days! )
I was thinking of my favorite foods, but one of the things i like about them is the feeling of satisfaction and repleteness after eating them. Just like booze that doesn’t get you drunk seems to be missing the point, did that doesn’t make you full just feels sad.
I’m sure there are things I’d enjoy just for the taste. Cinnamon imperials? Red wine? But i don’t think I’d want them all that often.
My mother makes a shrimp pasta salad that I can eat for days. Back when we were kids, she’d make a huge bowl of it to last a couple of days and my sister and I would decimate it in half the allotted time. These days, between age and cost, she doesn’t make it often any more but if I could have an ever-filling bowl that didn’t spoil, run dry or leave me looking like a perfect sphere, I’d be all about it.
Bloomin’ Onions and their dipping sauce. I loved those things, but can never finish a whole one - and the sauce inevitably gives me GI issues.
Cheese fries, or any variation (like poutine).
Indian food - The entire sub continents menu is a ‘fuck around and find out’ situation for my guts and yet I love it all.
They are also processed and have a less pure taste than the stuff I used to get, which was straight from the farm, wrapped in leaves. I’ve tried that stuff they sell in Hispanic grocery stores, it’s good enough to cook with but not eat it raw like what I had as a kid.
BBQ beef ribs or B&J New York Super Fudge Chunk Ice Cream.
Are we now picking entire categories?
No. But I’ve come to find that if I try to control a thread I start, it just makes me angry. I tried my best. So, whatever.
You got it right with your cake. Yum!
Real Nachos or those things with “cheese food” poured over them?
Then donuts for me.
Good choice.
My wife makes that for me, and it is a good choice.
Ice cream, what else?
I came close to choosing this! Vanilla, strawberry, butter pecan, caramel, coffee, probably others - I’d be happy with any one of those.
Pistachio, please. Sicilian pistachio.
Only real. That stuff is nasty.
Masala steak Gatsby.
Bread. God, I miss bread.
Fresh sourdough bread with some lightly salted butter- yum. I will eat that all day.
