Assuming you have to choose only one food, I would have to give this very careful thought before committing. Most of the savory foods upthread sound like good candidates - Ben & Jerry’s ice cream would make my short list but not anything else sweet.
I think pizza is the best choice, especially if I can vary the toppings. If it has to be the same pizza every time, I’d seek out the perfect pizza with lots of vegetables, cheese, and tasty sausage, and pick that.
I’m surprised Fritos haven’t been mentioned yet. They would make my short list too, especially if it could be "Fritos and assorted dips (bean, cheese, sour cream and onion, a home-made mango chutney and chili dip I make … mmmmm(.
If I had to choose one, and could have infinite quantity right now…
Watermelon. Extra frosty-cold, at the peak of ripeness, with deep red flesh that cracks when I hit it with the cleaver. With the barest sprinkle of salt.
Really good crusty bread and butter for afters.
In the morning I’ll join y’all’s fried chicken party…except get me some Popeye’s mashed and spicy gravy to go with.
Oh, yeah, my sweet tooth is more like a sweet entire mouthful of teeth. All the sweets, all the chocolate, all the cookies, all the cakes, all the gummy candies…
I want to try this so badly.
I have to get one of those - I loooooooove the edges of brownies.
Oooh, that’s a good one. Hot, fresh bread dripping with melted butter, with the crust still crispy - oh, baby.
I think after all that my endless food is going to have to be pie. All kinds of pie, every kind of pie. Sweet and savoury pies.
Donuts were the first thing I thought of. There’s a Duncan’s on the far side of the parking area where I work, but a donut from there is only an occasional treat when the box of wholesome, low-calorie breakfast bars I keep in my office is unexpectedly empty. If it were possible, I’d buy a box every morning.
And then go have a bacon-cheeseburger with fries and a real chocolate shake for lunch, with a brownies-and-ice-cream sundae for dessert.
But…but…if there were no adverse health effects, wouldn’t you swap in sugar for the Splenda? Or are you one of those who has come to prefer the taste of sucralose?
Hm, I have long claimed that my death row final meal [as if they would actually do this, from what I understand] Blinis Demidoff; Karlsson’s Gold Vodka
Surf and Turf, with the turf being a wagyu filet mignon cooked black and blue and unlimited lobster tails, with my special garlic lemon butter; a 2009 Domaine Tollot Beaut Corton-Charlemagne chardonnay
Classic globe artichokes steamed that I share the lobster butter with, also unlimited, the chardonnay works with it as well
and in lieu of a death by sugar dessert, I like a fairly simple plate of sliced apples, slices of brie and seriously extra sharp cheddar and major grey chutney. the apple slices are the crackers; Quady Elysium
[followed by a slide into diabetic coma and death…or a seriously pissed off endocrinologist :smack:]
Not even close to being my favorite food but I find I can’t seem to get enough of cold cut sandwiches, quartered, crust off, light mayo, light lettuce.
Things like lobster, crab, and scallops are my favorite but I do fill up on them fairly quickly.
