"What Would [Your Name Here] Do?"

There’s a “What Would John Corrado Do?” thread over in MPSIMS which got me thinking (“And it’s about time, too!” I hear the peanut gallery cry).

Whose name would you put on your “WW__D?” bracelet for daily inspiration? I would wear a “WWICD?” bracelet, for Ina Claire (1892–1985). She was a light, witty comic actress (you may have seen her as Garbo’s rival in “Ninotchka”). She was never at a loss for a quip or a bitchy wisecrack; but unlike poor weepy Dorothy Parker, she kept things light and amusing and always cheered up a gathering.

Who’s on your bracelets?

Tom Waits

Richard Feynman

John Lennon

Chuang Tzu

Granny Weatherwax

What would Alexander the Great do?

To find out, look in the dictionary under Gordian knot

Scooby.

I hate to say it… no I don’t.

Lenin.

Commie sandbox wetter.

Cthulu.

Of course, I’d probably gain lots of weight… all of those sandwiches.

Erik Erikson

Must I be the first?

Brian Boitano

Eric Idle.

Charles Bukowski.

Ya know, for those self-destructive days…

Harlan Ellison.
Spider Robinson.
James Randi.

Queen Victoria
Daria
Luke Skywalker

Curly Howard
Sir Edmund Hillary
and
Pat Buchanan (a bad example can still serve as an example)

There was a hilarious Ted Rall comic on this. I’ll see if I can dig it up, unless someone beats me to it.
