Cool bike, cool beard and cool lookin’ little kid. It WORKED!
Thank you, misnomer! The feeling is reciprocated.
Hillbilly Queen, I’m always happy when I can help a lady achieve her goals.
ETF, I’ve got me some horses too. But I don’t have any odd hat, strange britches or high boots like you seem to favor. Usually I ride in a t-shirt, jeans, baseball cap and Wolverine boots.
Right now I’m usin’ a barrel-racing saddle. I don’t have gender issues, I just ran across a good saddle at a very reasonable price. Keep your cinch tight.
Oh, I don’t always dress up fancy for riding. That’s just my show gear (for the rare occasions when I bother to show). I’m way more likely to look like this, though I do usually wear paddock boots and riding tights rather than sweats and muckshoes. I don’t ride my TB without a saddle (dressage for schooling, Aussie for trails) because… well, he is a TB. Very sane and laid back for the breed but a TB nonetheless. Then there’s those TB withers…
The horse I’m riding in that photo was Nick, a Quarter Horse, and a damn fine one. The kind you could put a little kid on, or hop on bareback with just a leadrope on the halter and go putter around the woods, or hand over to a good rider and they’d have a blast. I had to put him down at age 23 on September 16, after almost 14 years together.
He’s buried here, at my friend’s farm in New Hampshire where he spent the summer, got hurt, and was euthanized. My first horse, and my horse of a lifetime. He sure was a sweet guy.
That’s some serious mother of all beards, man. I envy you.
That’s me in 1995, a thin, nerdish type of guy, and that’s the hairy,well-rounded person that I am now.
And here’s a photoshop of me in approximately 60 years from now my friend made. (I’m in the back and still my beard isn’t half as big as Nic2004’s  )
Thank you. Very kind words indeed. The longest I’ve had it was about 4 inches below my breast bone (about 12" below the chin). It was always getting into stuff when it was that long though. Had a drill grab it and wind it around a whole lot reaeelly fast once.
In your pic “that’s the hairy” you look like a mix of a couple of old buddies of mine. I had to look twice. In that pic, what are those things on the shelf to the left? Are you behind a bar? And the photoshop one… at least you still have some color left in yours.
Anyway, keep up the good work. It’s more about the heart than anything else.
Just scrolled back and found this. Thanks JCoM. That’s my son, now 4 yo but I look the same.
I was gonna suggest photoshopping the pic of you with the rugged mountians behind you and making the sky a reddish-orange to compliment your name. Thanks again
