What'cha gonna buy me in the MMP?

Mainlining won’t help knock back the infection, sadly. It’s a matter of a steady level of the antibiotic over the requisite length of time. If it says 3 times a day, try for 8 hours apart, if it says twice a day try for 12 hours apart, versus one dose at 8am and the 2nd at 4pm. Slow, steady and even is the ticket. Read the fine print on the papers from the pharmacy about what not to do re: foods or antacids, etc with your antibiotic. Some work better with taking with food, some without , many it doesn’t matter. Without knowing what the pain med is all I can offer is it may help to take them with a cup of coffee or tea. Caffeine can augment the analgesic effects of some pain meds. An old-fashioned treatment that helped enormously at my house in the past year? Cold packs over the area of the jaw. 20 minutes on, 20-40 minutes off. Wrap the cold pack (a bag of frozen peas or corn works well) in cloth to protect your skin. An old mismatched sock full of uncooked rice knotted off at the top works well too-it conforms well to your face. It takes at least an hour in the freezer to chill enough so for 20 minutes on, 20 off you will need two socks of rice. I know this sounds too easy but ice can be amazing. Numb those nerves! [nurse Boo wishes she was there to make your tea and run back and forth to the freezer with your ice packs and talk to the pharmacist about how to max your pain relief… Ve haf our vays].

Thanks much. I’m pretty miserable. I thought about ice–I keep cold packs in the freezer–but I couldn’t figure out how the cold would make it through the cheek and into the tooth/gum. I’ll try it, though. I love coffee, but my stomach doesn’t, so I rarely drink it. If I can’t sleep due to the pain, I’ll get up and have some, along with some antacid. Remember that coffee called Kava? Why don’t they make that any more?

The painkiller is norhydrocodone. I’m feeling groggy–which I hate–but the pain is still pretty bad. Usually when I’m forced to take an opioid, the pain feels like it’s happening to someone else. Not this time. I don’t get it.

Ten days of this and I’ll go mad and start biting people…well, only the tender parts.

You mean this stuff?

Never heard of it.

Yes! Except I thought it also came ground (non-instant). Maybe I’m remembering wrong. I never bought or drank it. I just remember the commercials. Instant coffee is horrid. I don’t know how my parents drank it. I’m surprised anyone still drinks it.

Thanks!

My dad not only exclusively drinks instant, he also will abandon a mug for hours on end, then sip at the old, cold, instant coffee.

But then, the man prefers his cereal to be mushy. It’s like he wants all the joy to be sucked out of life.

Poor nellie. I’m just here to momentarily distract ya. Hope the ice helps!

When we were still in NJ, we did some renovation work on our house, and Supernatural had just came out. And then we expanded our Santana collection to Shaman and Abraxas.

Whenever I need to just get things done, and the task is a bit repetitive, out comes Santana. Keeps me way motivated.

Did something weird yesterday while moving around boxes (I like the term Room of Doom, it’s quite descriptive of our “guest” room) and took ibuprofen last night and today to try to reduce the pain and discomfort.

We have blue skies. I repeat BLUE skies. Looks like it might stay that way for a bit. Have to get out for a bit of a walk in the next hour. We slept in until 8:45, which is highly unusual for me.

I hope nellie is sleeping peacefully. Listen to Boo’s recommendation. She is wise.

Made a different version of banana bread with cutup dried figs and hubby’s happier with it, except it got a bit overbaked. The other recipe is a bit heavier.

I’m working through my chicken recipes and today is jerk chicken with salsa. We got a crock-pot express and have been using it for rice - so much better. And hubby does clean up.

We have large age gaps in my family, so one of my cousins is 12 years younger than his eldest nephew and became a great-uncle at 16 or 17. I only have 9 cousins, but the age range is impressive- my youngest cousin is about 20, oldest is in her 60s.

'Tis a gloomy, windy and soggy day here, so I suspect not much will be done today. I may attempt some bakage later, but that will be about the height of the excitement, I predict.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and cloudy, but could also rain, for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization followed by feedin’ ourselves. I am in favor of gettin’ some fried chikin and some side matter from the Pubic Sto’ and bringin’ it back to da cave. Hopefully that is what we’ll do.

{{{Nellie}}} hope you were able to get to sleep and hope the pain meds do better for ya today. Also, listen to Boo.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I’m the youngest, Lady SCAdian is the oldest, and there are gaps on both sides, so our generation runs from my brother, who would have been 81 this year (a year older than my mother-in-law), to her sister, who just turned 41.

It was nearly 7:30 before I hit the shower - weird night. Woke around 1-ish feeling hot, so I turned the electric blanket off. Over the next couple of hours I’d feel too hot or too cold - not from a fever but from the ambient temp and covers. I finally grabbed an afghan and left the blanket turned off and eventually dozed off again with occasionally wakings. Very weird night indeed.

But I’ve tended to the critters and I’m finishing breakfast prior to running to Food Lion for a couple of items. We’ll work in the basement some more - hope we can finish the shelves today. It’s supposed to be mild, but starting tomorrow, we have a week of sub-freezing nights and chilly days - weather guy even used the S-word. :open_mouth:

We shall see. Happy Sunday!!

Happy Sunday, indeed.

There’s a bit of snow on the ground - and more in the forecast - so, no, kitties will NOT be going outside this morning. They’re busy swatting each other.

Off to irk in an hour anna half. Gives me time to make a FlufferNutter sammich to bring with, and to scramble some aigs to consume before commencing the day.

Doughnut holes and coffee, lots of coffee to commence this Sunday. Powdered sugar (what doughnuts ought to be), eggnog (bought them for my roomie), and pumpkin flavors, a couple of each. Going to my daughter’s soon for the other two meals of the day, which means I’ll eat more than healthy enough to make up for it. It’s Hattie! day so you’ll only hear from me sporadically, but I’ll be reading Mumperland when the ipad isn’t watching Disney song videos (where the BippityBoppityBoo comes from) or reading her library books on Libby, which I expect we will do a lot of snuggled up together under an afghan. It’s post icy sleety snowstorm day1 here so playing in her backyard won’t be in the picture. Y’all may hear bad words from my direction when I go out to scrape off my car. It’s a wet, heavy snow so I’ll be scraping for awhile, cursing and bitching as I go.

nellie, I’ll be thinking of you every minute.

Well, that’s a downer- my aunt’s just been diagnosed with Parkinsons.

Quite aside from that being horrible in its own right, this is the aunt I think I’ve mentioned a few times, married to a guy who believes his role in retirement to be that of a lump who sits there while women (mainly wife, but daughter or other female relative in a pinch) cater to his every need. It would be nice to think he’d step up now, but he didn’t when she had surgery before, so I think all the pressure’s going to just fall on my cousin, who really, really does not need that. Bleh.

Anyway- the flat has been feebly decorated; I think that counts as an achievement for the day.

Good morning, beloved Mumpers, and a huge air hug to the lot of ya for being so kindly… The good news is the pain level is down maybe 10% , so things are heading in the right direction. I did try application of cold but wimped out shortly thereafter because it hurts to touch that area even lightly. Maybe there’s some wise Boo trick to it?

I mostly dozed last night, but I must have actually slept for a bit because I dreamed some gang of criminals had killed two homeless people and were trying to involve me. They kept sending me ugly pornographic texts. I was trying to reach Cecil to find out how to block them. (Apparently my subconscious is a techno-idiot who thinks this was a Cecil-calibre crisis.) Opioids give me vivid nightmares.

I seem to be one of the lucky 1-in-6 people who develop flu-like symptoms from the shingles shot–little fever, chills, fatigue. On the bright side, that means my body is developing resistance, right? Today’s plan is to stay in bed.

Nut. I’m so sorry about your aunt. What a rough diagnosis.

Dice, hope you heal up fast.

Shoe, I got a chuckle out of your dad’s eccentric tastes. Did he like cold toast and melted ice cream, too?

Boo, your breakfast sounds delicious.

silenus, you made me hungry for chorizo and eggs. I haven’t done that for a weekend breakfast for a while.

nellie, I hope that the meds do a better job before your dental work commences. As far as instant coffee goes, my mother and her siblings came of age from the forties to the sixties and they were big on instant coffee and tea. Blech!

herald, my mom came from a family of 14 children. Her oldest sister was having her first four children between my grandparent’s last four. Even in my own family, my baby sister was only four years old when my oldest niece was born and baby sister’s kids are younger than several of big bro’s grandkids. This is pretty common in big families.

nut, hugs to your aunt. I hope that modern medicine is able to alleviate symptoms and help her live a fairly normal life.

Up, caffeinating and breakfasted. Once KP is done, I’ll fold the laundry that didn’t get folded yesterday, get sheveled and begin a new project in the studio since I got all tidied from the last one (it was a big one taking a couple of months). Rogan josh, Indian fried cabbage and a cucumber salad is on the menu for supper.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

That’s exactly what it means!:sunglasses:Your body is generating strong resistance, hearty, vigorous resistance. I went through a day of that too, with the first Shingrix. Well worth it to never have shingles but no fun when you’re going through it. Think of it as a war cry, terrifying the heroes zoster invaders til they turn and run.

Morning all. Put on the eyeshades and stayed in bed until after 8am. Have done my major construcutive work of the day and cleaned the refrigerator (at least till I ran out of Formula 409). Will shortly clean up and head to Red robin (Yum!) for Sunday eatin’.

nellie, hope the pain keeps going down. And BBBoo is right on the Shringrix; your body is mobilizing while beating up zombies (I presume the vaccine uses killed virus) so that it’s ready to go if the real thing comes along someday. And weird dreams come to all of us…

Nut, sorry to hear about your aunt, hope her husband steps up this time (or gets a kick in the pants to get him started).

BBBoo, enjoy Hattie! day.

Dice, hope the pain is better.

Nettie, nice pictures. I see why the cat is called princess…

OK, need to make myself presentable for the general public. All y’all take care.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I’ve already cleaned the kitchen and dusted the apartment, and piut new sheets on the bed.

silenus, chorizo and eggs is a staple Sunday brunch for me. But today I had bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Nut, I’m sorry about your aunt. :frowning:

So it’s pinin’ for the fjords?

Does he ear hot dogs in aspic? Because that would really do it.

Hope the drugs work soon, nellie

Shelves are constructed. They will not be painted - it’s just for storage and I don’t care enough to bother.

I’ll give the area a good sweeping and start loading the shelves. I’ll also be moving a large metal cabinet in the other corner - that’s where all FCD’s air brush paints live. So I’ve got a few weeks of sorting and organizing ahead - fortunately, this week is daughter’s last till after New Years, so I’ll be Roxy-free most of the time.

Meanwhile, lunch. Probably soup, because it’s quick and easy.

FCD & FCD
those shelves are impressive !! Getting all organized is almost going to be fun with those. I wouldn’t paint them either. Don’t forget the mats and coasters under things though. Mustn’t compromise on your standards!
