SIL goes in late, so I’ll be leaving shortly to wrangle Roxy at their place. No sense dragging her here for less than an hour. Then maybe I’ll run to Aldi since it’s right across the street from their neighborhood.
Still haven’t decided what supper will be. Beef stew sounds lovely, but I don’t have time to make it today. Maybe tomorrow?
Morning all! Up, fed, caffeinated, and as sheveled as I need to be.
My goal for Lockdown II, as it was before, is to accomplish at least one productive task each day, however small it may be. I did not keep that up for four months; we’ll see how it goes this time.
I had three things planned yesterday, but Mrs W talked me into saving some for other days. Good advice. So I successfully re-applied for unemployment yesterday. Today’s task is passport renewal. And tomorrow I’ll try to fix a prob with our security cameras. After that I’ll need to go looking for things to do.
Dice, that train looks amazing! I’d rather you flew us all to Scotland rather than shipping the train over here though. I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland (land of my ancestors!), and I would definitely go for the distillery tour option.
Flyboy, if I had a choice between going to a company Christmas party and having an extra hundred bucks in my pocket, I’d take the hundo every time!
The parties are actually quite good. We used to have the Big Corporate Ballroom Parties, paid for by our members. Then after we got a new president, the board decided to do away with the BCBPs and everyone could have their own do’s. I missed the first one, since I didn’t want to drive down to Seattle. Turns out it was in the restaurant up at the top of the Space Needle. Subsequent parties have been in very nice (read: Expensive) restaurants – except one time when we went to a teppanyaki place. (That party was not highly rated, and one person in the office is deathly allergic to mushroom. She can’t even be in the same room where they’re being eaten, let alone cooked.) The rest have been outstanding. Free sauce, too. I had at least three Vieux Carré cocktails at the last one, and they were made with premium ingredients. The parties started at 11:30 or so, lasted a couple of hours, and then we could go home.
But yeah… A two-hour (at least) drive to Seattle and a two-hour (at least) drive home (after drinking)? I could use the extra hectobuck more than the hassle of attending even a nice party.
I’m looking for currant jam/jelly for my mom - someone suggested a local deli, which was a bust on the currant-y stuff but a win otherwise, as they’re just a couple minutes from work & now represent a new lunch option.
They had little to-go cups of “deviled egg potato salad” which hit the spot today for a nice snack.
If anyone’s buying me a house, I’d like a (scaled to my height) hobbit house with a chunk of land, if that’s OK? Nothing big or fancy, just cosy, though I would like one extra bedroom for guests.
I’m not sure what I’d get the rest of you- a cleanerbot might be nice for a few (on a side note, we could do with one at irk- I braved the staff kitchen cupboard today and found stuff that went out of date in 2006), or a personal chef on call maybe.
I don’t have enough brain spare to work out what I’m getting family for Christmas yet, so I certainly don’t have much spare.
Back home again. Poor daughter will have a cranky toddler on her hands tonight. SIL didn’t put her down to nap before I got there. He also left her in a poopy diaper, but to be fair, maybe he didn’t know she’d pooped. (When will that child decide she want to be potty trained???) So by the time I got her cleaned up and in bed, it was maybe 1:15.
Then maybe 20 minutes later, the doorbell rang and the dog went crazy - it was the guy from the company that’s fixing their windows. Problem was, the barking woke Roxy and she started crying. No way I was going to get her to nap after that. Then maybe 10 minutes after window guy left, daughter texted that she was on her way. So, cranky toddler…
I stopped at Aldi and got a half a poke loin which has been cut into half a dozen chops and 2 small roasts. Two of the chops are seasoned, breaded, and waiting to become supper. The rest is in the freezer. Just gotta decide on sides. But I’ve got time to kill, so yay.
Mail came - no package. I have a feeling I’ll be contacting Amazon to reorder, hoping I can get replacements before Christmas. Ho ho ho.
I told you my Fitbit disassembled itself the other day. yes?
Well, Wifey bought me an early Xmas present, a new Apple watch. Turns out, my iPhone is too old to pair with it.
Sometimes I hate Apple.
I need a new phone* anyway, but sometimes this crap pisses me off!
More later, maybe.
*It just hasn’t been the same since I dropped it into that bowl of soup.
I’m picturing MOOooooommm’s freezer, and it must be enormous. One could pull all kinds of meals outta there, like a magician pulling scarves from his sleeve!
Afternoon all. Soccer watchin’ is complete, and I managed to do two loads of laundry and clean both toilet bowls inside and out. Still need to sweep the floors, for some reason I’m always putting that off, but it’ll get done. All my Christmas shopping is now done and sitting on my ottoman, Amazon and UPS behaved themselves shipping-wise for me.
Pot roast! Perfect! I have a hunk o’chuck in the freezer that will find its way into the crock pot on Thurs. Tomorrow is our anniversary and we’re going with our former roomies to look at lights at a local garden/arts venue. Maybe we’ll eat out afterwards, or grab something to go.
Meanwhile, dishwasher is washing and I’m about to assume the chillage position. Thus windeth down another day…
Today has been spent solving other people’s problems. It was not on the agenda, but since I believe connections are the whole reason we’re here (Be sure to check out my new book, Connections: A Philosophy of Rehashed Mish-Mash from Koo Koo Kachoo Publishing), I’m OK with that. I’ve cleaned out my fridge and am about to wrap a couple of gifts I bought long ago and forgot to send with the others yesterday. Then I’ll head to the P.O. and return before dark. I hope.
nut, I love the idea of a Hobbit House. What kinds of plants do you want on your acreage? Southern Star? Old Toby?
