Chocolate Milk. I can make it while I’m half awake and it keeps me feeling full long enough to fall back asleep.
Popcorn, with cheddar cheese. And a Pepsi Max. Nope, caffeine doesn’t keep me awake.
This, with saltines and Summer sausage (thinly sliced).
I thought it sounded horrible, but my options at the time were limited, so I tried it. It’s very good with a glass of cold milk. Half a peanut butter sandwich with cold milk is good, too.
Of course, leftovers are a favorite midnight snack. My appetite has decreased quite a bit over the past couple of years, so I frequently have about a third of my dinner left over. I also really, really like salads in the middle of the night, and my husband has often come home from working a swing shift to find me reading a book and eating a salad.
What ever it is, it must be eaten while standing in front of an open refrigerator.
Midnight snack or bedtime snack? A small bowl of raisin bran with milk is the best bedtime snack for me… it puts me right out. Unfortunately, I have to spend some time sucking it out of my teeth before I brush my teeth.
When I wake up hungry in the middle of the night (and being 4.5 months pregnant, that’s happening more and more often) I find that I want something that won’t get stuck in my teeth and that doesn’t have many refined carbs, so I can just rinse my mouth out instead of brushing my teeth before I go to sleep again. Cottage cheese and tabbouleh have both fit this bill so far.
Toasted one-hundred-calorie sandwich rounds with a few squirts of “fake” butter.
