I’ll be driving to Anchorage this weekend and am looking for a place to eat. The last time I was in town I dined at the restaurant atop the Captain Cook and the Hilton’s sky high eatery. I’d rather find somewhere a bit more approachable. The bush I’m beating around is I’d like to get a decent meal that doesn’t break the budget. I don’t want to limit myself but because I’ll be in town such a short time I can’t be very adventurous and risk having an “abdominal episode” on the Parks Highway; I already have the weather to worry about.
I appreciate a well-balanced meal, meaning good vegetables complementing a great piece of meat. Salad is more than iceburg lettuce and a couple of tomato wedges. I have to draw the line at salmon, halibut, moose, or “Alaskan” food; being near Fairbanks for most of the last year so I’ve had my fill.
I know Anchrorage’s gotta have some great eating so please point the way!
