"What's a normal sleep cycle?" Don't ask the MMP!

Oh, {{{{Dots}}}}. Life sucks sometimes, but it appears that the kid (granddaughter?) has a magic touch to make you feel better. Have a restful night, I hope.

Purp, I dont’ cook very much, so I’d vote for the diner, especially if it’s a real diner with real diner food. Reward yourself for a busy day (busier than mine, that is…)

Red, glad nelson is in such fine fettle.

Bumba, I remember visiting my brother years ago, his cat at the time climbed into my lap and got comfy, I stritched it’s ears and back and we seemed to be getting along quite well, when out of nowhere the beast bit me and ran off. So I feel your pain (no wife, though…)

Hang in there wet one; your stronger than old demon tobacco.

swampy, condolences to Larry; I’m shooting for 90 myself (my dad lived to 92), that’s a lot of living.

flyboy, Goo was just affirming that cats (1) knock things over and (2) can be real assholes.

OK, need to go out in the uncertain (rain is on and off) weather and search for sustenance. The Culver’s is due to open next Monday so I’ll pencil it in for then.

{{{swampy}}} I’m sorry for the loss of Larry.

I used to be a night owl. Probably would still be if I didn’t have to be up at 5:15 AM. I worked evenings, graveyards, split shifts and multi jobs for enough years that I just grabbed sleep when I could get it.

I played in the studio this afternoon and talked to the maintenance guy about the AC. He said he would be in as the first job in the morning (I’m thinking that that’s so it won’t be as stinkin’ hot), tear down the unit and give it an enema. :stuck_out_tongue: While he’s here, he’ll do the other two work orders that I have in. I told him that there is a box of dog cookies that I would leave on the stove for his boy (the mastiff). They were waaaaaaaayyy bigger than I expected and have to be broken up in smaller pieces for Nelson. That makes a mess, so Snoop will have treats for a while. I also told him that if Nelson didn’t bark his little head off, to give him a mini milk bone from the treat jar on the table. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s back to irk tomorrow.

Flyboy Dover sole should be lightly floured (salt and pepper in the flour of course) and pan fried in a skillet o’ melted butter. Squeeze of lemon on top prior to serving. Zucchini is gross. Go for roasted asparagus or steamed artichoke.

I just heard on the radio that William Shatner is 89. He seems … heck, spry is condescending, his age really surprised me!

**Dot, **it sounds like The Kid is just the medicine you need, to distract you from your own woes and aches. Which you have a-plenty and I think you’re an absolute trooper about stuff that would fry my mind.

Laundry needed a second go-round in the dryers, so it seemed prudent to spend that time wisely … at the diner two minutes away. My chopped steak just arrived, in fact - bacon’n’eggs hafta wait - and the menu suggests I shall be returning frequently. I may even gasp! become a regular!

The waitress said it was their 1st day re-opening, in fact, so I’m glad to come support a local business. She is hustling despite half capacity, and I overheard her telling someone else it had been a crazy day.

She will, obvs, get a healthy tip. Hint: I suck at math, and half is easy.

It feels really good to be in a position to do things like overtip when I feel it’s deserved.

happy Monday everyone

**MissOwl **- I wasn’t ignoring your PM - I just didn’t know it was there. Usually I get a popup to tell me I have one, but not today. Anyway, I responded.

I’m about to drag myself back to bed. I’ve got a 7:30 appointment with my Dr, so I need to leave the house by 7:10. Here’s hoping I can fall asleep at a decent hour tonight. I’ve got a few skeeter bites that drove me crazy - I’ll use hydrocortisone tonight and cross my fingers.

Daughter found a tick on herself and on Roxy today - so we need to treat the area around her swingset - suggestions? Or is the best bet to wear insect repellent?

Stoopit ticks…

Sevin Dust, although you may want to keep Roxy out of the area for a day or so.

The human equivalent mental age of dogs is two.
Cats, it is 45. They aren’t assholes, they just don’t give a damn.

Remember folks, fish are friends, not food.

Not too horrific a Moanday at Hades Annex. DH is working again as of the 17th, so I’m back to the bus. Rumor has it bus service is returning to normal this weekend, which would be just in time for my needs. We shall see.

Part of my brain says I should ease up a little on the near-daily supply forages on the way home, but another insists I need to make sure we’re well stocked against a possible second wave of Covid and attendant panic shelf-clearing. Did score two 34oz bottles of store brand hand sanitizer gel at Walmart (store brand is totally fine with me), saw Purell at Target but decided to give only being able to buy one 2oz a pass, since we don’t need more pocket-size right now. Did buy more vinyl gloves, even though I don’t really use them (seems like something we should have, for some reason), and planning to buy more masks next pay period (got a 50ct pack at Walgreens over the weekend). A bit of my stimulus went to what will probably be at least 6 months of supplies for the Princess.

:stuck_out_tongue: I have the body and soul of an old lady, but I’m 29. She’s my roommate’s kid. And she’s a ray of sunshine in my life and in the world.

Casserole is done. It looks good, but it’s not one I’ll repeat. Too much making things in pans and then pouring them into other things and I don’t have the strength to pick the pans up and turn them by myself and also can’t see over them to see when things are boiling. Plus, I need both hands on the wheels to move in a straight line, so picking up a hot pot and then taking it to the sink to drain… not possible. I’m always learning my limits and apparently, this is one of them. Anyway, though, it’s done and my vegetables are safely in their frozen form now.

Brownies are done as well. They were from a mix, so it wasn’t complicated, but there was still some “baking” involved. The kid did pretty much all of it, though- cracked the eggs, measured the oil and water, did the stirring, and poured the batter into the pan. She was super proud of herself. Mom, unfortunately, was being kind of a pill today and when the kid went to tell her that we had freshly-baked brownies and ask if she’d like one, she turned her down and went to KFC instead. Oh well. We’ll still have brownies to enjoy tomorrow.

In the meantime, my body feels like it’s on fire and sleep doesn’t seem to be in the cards for me just yet. No normal sleep cycle for me, either. Off to Netflix to find something to passively stare at for a while.

Roxy was up around 4, so the rest of the household was up around 4. Everyone else is sleeping, but once I’m up, that’s usually it. As a result, I’m showered, dressed, breakfasting, and just waiting to leave for my Dr appt. I’ve got the first one of the day, so I should be in and out fairly quickly.

The rest of the day is up in the air, except for a stop at CVS to pick up a refill.

It’s another gloriously cool morning, but it won’t last - today’s forecast is disgustingly close to 90° for a high. Yeah, I know, it’s summer, blah blah blah. I just feel cheated out of a month or so of having the house open. Stoopit weather. :stuck_out_tongue:

Happy Tuesday!

{{Dots}}

I’m attempting a faintly productive day. Attempting. I need to walk in to town later, and the bees could do with a checkup. At some point soon, I will stop messing around on the internet and go do one of those things.

Soon…

(((((Swampy))))), sorry to hear about Larry, he must have been a real character. And these days, 90 is a pretty good achievement.

(((Dots))), sorry to hear about your accident, I’m glad you had a distraction and you’re feeling a bit better now. Things like that can take a long time to get over, and you do feel like you’ve done a few rounds with a serious heavyweight.

Nothing exciting going on here. Irk is irksome, someone in a zoom meeting messaged me urgently requiring some info that’s not easy to get together. Shame they couldn’t have thought about it and asked earlier then it would have been more accurate but they’ll have to make do with a guesstimate for now.

We had basa fillets for dinner last night with a sweet chilli coating, along with boiled baby pearl potatoes and assorted veggies (sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli for me, peas and carrots for 'im indoors). Tonight it’s not my turn to cook so I have no idea what we’re having except that it will involve chicken 'cos that’s what came out of the freezer.

Just back to the grind for me. Most of my work is on customer sites that require their systems to be tested semi annually. With just a bit over three months to go until I retire, I am doing the last round of testing for most of my customers. It feels strange.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slug abed until seven-fifteen! 'Tis 78 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 85 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for the afternoon. The big plan of the day is laundry. Rah. Sup shall be baked chikin boobs (in the slow cooker with my homemade white sauce), smashed N.O.T., peas 'n carrots and rolls. Have I mentioned lately how much I lurves my slow cooker(s)?

{{{Dots}}} sorry you’re all beat up and sore but you seem to be copin’ so hope things are better today. Also, good on you for bein’ so great to the kid!

Thanks for all the kind words about Larry. His service will be this mornin’ with very limited attendance. It will be held outside in the memorial garden at the church house. His cremains will be plopped down in a spot in one of the columbariiums. I’m told there will be a reception afterwards with coffee and cookies and such. Larry was a big fan of cookies and coffee so ‘tis fittin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Do they know it’s your last time testing their stuff?

I’m excited to get back to my new job today, so naturally, I dreamed that I … clocked in remotely (a neat trick in retail) and then just never went in. Realized my mistake in a dream-panic … and woke up in a ferrealz panic, way before my alarm.

It’s sunny now, but The Oracle Of Teh Googlez is threatening tunderboomers later. Thus: humidity!

One minor mystery: I swung by the dollah sto’ yesterday and among other things, was determined to replace my elderly hairbrush. Even found a two-pack with a smaller “travel size” brush. Was all excited to try one of 'em out as soon as I got home (mmmmm) but for the life of me, now I don’t see the other one anywhere.

I’m trying to stay on top of clutter so I tossed the receipt & package, took out the trash later. No evidence remains.
Did I decide on a different package at the last minute? Is there a hairbrush lurking in, like, my freezer or something because I set it down absentmindedly?
There are no witnesses. The world may never know.

Back from my appointment - and some excellent blood work! Bad cholesterol and triglycerides both way down, BP down too. I got a referral for some tit-squishing and I need to go back in August for my pneumonia booster.

Forgot to stop at the pharmacy on the way home (dammit) but I did get some nice 'maters at the Amish market. Now what???

Morning all. Rain was all about last night, but seems to be drying up now, but 50% chance of rain this afternoon. The new Freddy’s Steakburgers is opening today, so I may ride by and sample thier wares…

FCM, good on the numbers. As for ‘now what?’, I’m sure Roxy and FCD can suggest things if you get bored…

Purp, the other hairbrush will show up in the last place you look for it…

hippy, hope the memories of your last visits are good ones.

dots, most humble and contrite apologies on the age oops. Will try to do better.

Red, so bribing the maintenance guy with treats for his dog? Pretty sneaky…

OK, the donation to Purple Heart is outside so the one ]must do’ for the day is done. Really need to get all the soccer pictures up, took them out of their bin and divided them up, but just don’t want to start hammering nails (which for me means hammering thumbs). Ah well, once I start it’ll go pretty fast.

Take care all.

And I just mowed the back yard because it needed it. The front ditches need to be mowed, too, but that’ll wait. Because. :stuck_out_tongue:

First day back in the orifice. I checked my texts to Mrs. L.A., and the last time I was here was 19 March. The commute was under two hours! I’ll sure hate it when we have long commutes again. Even though the protests were miles away, our landlord locked the gate. I had to look for the card reader so I could get my car in.

FTR: I prefer waking up at six, rather than 4:30.
