Larry’s funeral was livestreamed on youtube. It was a nice service and a good tribute to a great man. The music was really good. I teared up durin’ Precious Lord, Take My Hand, as this is one of his favorite’s. Glad I was able to attend virtually.
There is a tboomer brewin’ out as I post. I am torn between nappage and wantin’ to go sit on the back porch and watch. Thunder storms fascinate me!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Overnight work was mainly “hurry up and wait”. That, and taking things off a shelf, and putting them back on. So the could use a pallet jack to move 3 70 foot shelves. 3 inches forward.:dubious: Also, somebody spent the whole night outside of roomie’s door, wailing and gnashing his teeth.

FCM, you need a referral:p for marital bliss now? Socialist medicine has gone too far!:D;)
Earlier this morning I said the rains had dried up. The Weather Gods heard me and sent a heavy rainshower to park over my house for about an hour. Other showers are in the area, so my days of predicting are at an end.
Purple Heart made pickup before the deluge so that job is done.
swampy, glad Larry got a good sendoff.
flyboy, glad the commute was quick…are things still that unsettled in Seattle?
OK, back to thinking up excuses for not doing any work…
I just finished washing the truck. It is white again. It was gross!
I’d asked daughter and SIL to do it a couple of weeks ago. Which is why I washed it today. I swear, for 30-somethings, they sure act like teenagers some days.
**FCD **is napping. I’m going to drink ice water and enjoy the a/c for a bit.
Good morning! I had a nice, long interlude without lupus symptoms, but it had to end sometime, and today is it. It’s OK, though. I don’t have to be anywhere, and it’s not the worst flare I’ve ever had. This, too, shall pass, and in the meantime, I’m going to be happy, dammit.
swampy, sounds like the services for Larry were perfect. I’m going to give a listen to that hymn. I hope you postponed nappage to watch the storm. I love thunderstorms, too. We seldom get thunder out here, and I miss it.
Moooom, you’re not doing anything to dispel my image of you as an industrious soul who works her heinie off.
shoe, now that it broke free of the dollar store, maybe the travel brush decided to travel. It’s probably hopping down the highway right now, singing “I’ve Been Everywhere” and bristling with energy.
nelliebly, how long does a flare-up typically last? I hope it’s a short one.
I just saw my first hummingbird of the season - I hung up hummingbird feeders for the first time ever this morning and they’ve already found them! I’ve been walking around with an idiotic grin for the last few minutes and keep drifting back to the back window to see if it came back. I’m a little embarrassed for being so easily charmed in my mid-40s but I’m delighted just the same.
The only thing that will make this better is a small cup of espresso with real sugar and cream during my next call.
No riots or protests I know of, if that’s what you mean.
But since the West Seattle Bridge is closed, the trip to Trader Joe’s to get lunch was what I could call a ‘Charlie Foxtrot’. I got Thursday’s lunch while I was there.
I created a really boring supper - sliced onions and assorted mixed veggies from partial bags in the freezer, sauteed in oil with a few splashes of teriyaki. Then I threw in shrimp that had been teriyaki’d. All served over rice. I’m thinking the soy sauce I bought was pretty dilute, because there wasn’t a lot of flavor in my homemade teriyaki.
I’ll pull out a meatloaf for tomorrow. Or maybe I’ll do something with chicken. I dunno…
I have been telling the long term and regular clients. The site where I worked today and where I changed all of those batteries last week Is a regular. I have been going there every Friday morning for the last fifteen years to exercise their fire sprinkler pumps. the Security staff there call me for issues before they call the office. I will miss those people.
MetalMouse
so far they have been. There are some customers that I am glad to see the end of though
As far as Seattle goes, I’m hearing a chunk’s been carved out and declared no longer part of the US (it’s now “Free Capital Hill”, apparently). I’d call that kind of unsettled.
Afternoon all. Did try the new Freddy’s steakburgers, the burger reminded me of Steak and Shake but a little bigger and better dressed. The fries were the tiniest I think I’ve ever seen, but they were good. Was going to take out, but the car lines were extraordinarily long, so I ate in. Will have to put it on my list of stopping places, close and good.
Now trying to get through to the Geek Squad, my big TV works and the soundbar turns on, but I can’t get any sound from either of them. I figure I’ve pressed the wrong button somewhere, but need someone to direct me to which one, as I have probably fouled it up even worse.
flyboy, I had Charlie dance a few Foxtrots in my career. Hang in there.
talkative, that’s a good idea. No idea if there is any hummingbirds around N. Ali-bama, but some birds (and squirrels) would probably enjoy it…
{nellie}. You have a good attitude about this; I think it helps.
OK, need to head over to Wally Mart and get a couple more frames for hanging pictures (swear I never knew how much I had on the walls until I had to take them down). Take care all.
shoe, maybe your new hairbrush traveled to visit my AWOL mask with the postage stamp print. I swear, I don’t know how I can lose socks, a mask and other things living in a 560 square foot apartment with just a dog.
metal mouse, the dog treats weren’t a bribe, I truly like his dog Snoop and I had purchased a box of treats that were too big for Nelson to handle. Beside, the [del]bribe[/del] thank you from me is a gift card to Sonic for enough to buy breakfast, lunch and a snack.
I didn’t sleep much last night. The AC went totally out and I got maybe three hours of restless sleep. I called out at irk. The maintenance guy made me a priority and was here from 8:30 until 2. He tore down the old unit and tried to fix it. When that didn’t work, he went to a vacant apartment that he’d just replaced one and took the new unit. It’s now a comfy 75F in here. When he got here, it was 91F. He also fixed a hinge on the door, the little thing that slows down the screen door when it closes and installed replacement tubes in the overhead kitchen fixture.
I went to the ATM for some cash to make a Marketplace purchase this afternoon. I paid $25 for two items that were still in the package that retail for ~$80 each.
I’ll kick back in the studio after KP and likely hit the hay early.
Oh, why did I have the bright idea to give my patio a makeover by coating three different colors of concrete with textured concrete paint? I knew there was moss growing on the main section. I never looked at it closely to see how much moss there was! One corner was so thick, it felt like carpet. So some people say spraying it with kitchen vinegar will kill it. Not this stuff. Others say 50-50 bleach and water. Hah! If anything, that just made it greener! Soaking it with Roundup, then scrubbing with a steel bristle brush? That works, but it’s work! The scrubbing is pulling it up in tufts like tribbles.
My darling husband has decided to be mad at me because our politics differ. (Our values are very similar, else it wouldn’t work. He’s just bad at interpreting his candidates. )
So tonight I’m having a conversation with my friend, the officer with the state NAACP, my cousin the congressman, and my cousin the registrar about the voting difficulty today. All of them - in spite of different political leanings - agreed that today was horrible for Georgia voters.
My husband (bless his heart) seems to think I’m some pinko commie because the prez of the NAACP agree that the new voting machines blow.
In spite of the fact that the registrar and the R congressman agree that the new Georgia machines suck.
Downpours this afternoon and evening up here, too. Maybe it was the incoming storms, but everyone at work was edgy and we just could not get a rhythm settled and this one chick will not shutthefuckup & mentally wandering off from whatever she’s supposed to be doing.
By the end of the day, even our manager - one of the most affable dudes I’ve ever met - was at the end of his tether.
But nobody snapped and now I’m home, with my blessed little A/C droning away. My feet HURT and I have a blister or three but I’m trying to stay cheerful. Y’all are good role models for that.
Hey! I decided the A/C is my new friend. Roommate? Anyway, it needs a name. Y’all are ingenious at naming things!
