What's for dinner tonight?

Slop. Pasta and rice, plus a can of chili, heavy on garlic powder and pepper, in the microwave, then eaten right out of the bowl.

Minimizes washing up. One bowl, one spoon.

I don’t know what to call it. Cubed up some red potatoes, boiled them until almost done and then drained them an set aside. Put a can of diced fire roasted tomatoes, a little extra water and polish sausage in the pan, simmered until the sausages were done then put them in the bowl with the potatoes. Added a diced yellow zucchini to the tomato-sausage simmer with a bit of added roasted garlic, added a few cubes of cream cheese and simmered that until the squash was done, not long. Cut up the sausage and then dumped everything back into the pot, stirred it all up, simmered it all together for about 5 minutes. Will make about 4 large meals.

So, potato-sausage-zucchini-creamed-tomato stew? It’s really tasty.

Well I have hamburger thawed. I’ve also got a ton of tomatoes, cukes, and green peppers from the garden. I do not have any hamburger buns. So hmmm.

I’ll figure it out.

Do you have a food processor?

I’m making gazpacho tonight, and apart from garlic, olive oil and some stale bread it looks like you’ve got the makings too.

Okay, tonight we’re all having leftover stir-fry and leftover stroganoff! Cheerios optional.

Today is Tuesday, so, naturally, it’s Taco Night…no, wait, it’s Meatball Sub and Mac & Cheese night.

Grilled strip sirloin marinated in rosemary, S & P, and olive oil. Roasted smashed baby red potatoes with shallots and garlic, with a rocket salad- shredded carrot, cucumber, sliced radishes and grated bella vitano cheese, with a homemade lime honey vinaigrette. And maybe garlic bread. Magnum caramel ice cream bars for dessert with a nice bottle of Ex Nihilo pinot noir.

Mixed strawberries, blueberries, kiwi and mandarins.
Venison backstrap cooked with onions, tomatos and okra.

Either microwave Chinese or microwave Mexican. Yay! no cooking. And there’s some salad left, too.

I still have some sausage penne left over, but I might make poutine instead.

We’ve gotten into the habit of making at least a couple of meals/week meatless, so tonight is stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Very cheap and very filling. We usually alternate carrots with the green beans and egg noodles with the potatoes.

Uh, on second thought, I’m heading over to swampspruce’s house!

Brats and chips and, maybe, home-canned pickles.

Got a skirt steak, made fajitas last night. Marinade was cumin + cayenne + soy sauce + red wine vinegar + mustard + [del]pineapple juice[/del] white zinfandel (hey, I needed a sweet liquid!) for the meat, with sweet onions and bell pepper grilled up while the meat was resting, and cilantro and sour cream and cheese for garnish.

It was gooo-oooood. Breakfast today = last night’s leftovers!

I made tom kha gai the other night; it would have been perfect except I put the whole can of coconut cream in (note to self–NOT the same as coconut milk) and it came out a bit too sweet and rich. But, we’re having the leftovers tonight–with extra lime, cilantro, chili, and rice this time–should be tasty enough.

Watermelon and a bit of Blue Bell Vanilla for afters.

Sorry I missed this as I would have invited you. It was delicious although we had to skip dessert as we were too full.

Tonight, homemade grilled chicken burgers with spanish rice and caprese salad. Blueberries and cream for dessert. Sleeman’s Cream Ale while cooking pour moi and a glass or two of rioja for SWMBO. If you don’t feel like cooking ,DB, you can come over. Sorry I was thoughtless before…

I totally should! We’re keeping it low-key tonight, with spaghetti and meatballs or tacos, whichever seems easiest after I get my tired self home.

Probably just a bowl of sugary cereal. Had a big lunch, with buffalo chicken wraps, pasta salad, and a fruit cup.

Panini.

So, dinner didn’t quite work out the way I planned; 32 C and I didn’t feel like cooking so after watching the gathering thunderheads ( I love watching Prairie storms) on the deck with a few beers, we ordered Dominos. Not quite as Gucci as I had planned, so maybe the above will be dinner tonight…
