What's for Dinner/

Shrimp stir-fry. I was lazy, so I used frozen stir-fry vegetables from Trader Joe’s, large frozen shrimp from the supermarket, and Kikkoman stir-fry sauce. I was going to use the leftover rice that was in the freezer, but it reheated mushy; so I made new rice.

Tonight we’ll probably have sandwiches and pasta leftover from Mrs. L.A.‘s boss’s retirement party on Thursday. Last night I said we could have sandwiches and pasta tonight, and she said, ‘Bologna sandwiches and macaroni and cheese?’ :stuck_out_tongue: (Well, we do have leftover mac’n’ cheese. But she buys non-all beef bologna, so we’ll have to pass on that.)

Some jerk chicken that’s been marinating/covered in paste for about 24 hours. And roast veggies, rice and peas.

Breaking in the new grill. I have a 4 day weekend, so last night was burgers and cole slaw. Tonight is brats, potato salad, mac salad and deviled eggs. Tomorrow is ribs and whatever salads are left. Monday will be pizza on the grill. All served with copious quantities of beer, including several growlers from the new brewpub that opened a couple of blocks from here.

We are having a pasta bake and Italian bread tonight.

Haluski, with home made dumplings and cottage cheese.

Ahi Tuna Tacos with Wasabi Cream and Mango Avocado Salsa and corn on the cob.

Chipotle-glazed skirt steak, grilled on the 'cue, served in soft tacos like carne asada.

I’ve had awesome cooking success the last three days. We made a trip to a seafood wholesaler on Friday, and bought live Dungeness crabs and grilling oysters.

Friday night we had cold cracked crab with buttermilk coleslaw.

Saturday night we had grilled oysters, some topped with lemon/garlic/basil butter, and some with chipotle/shallot butter. Grilled ciabatta toast and asparagus salad on the side.

Last night we had slow-roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary potatoes, roasted garlic, and fresh string beans.

But best of all, I made my first tiramisu yesterday, and we had it for dessert. I flavored the espresso with rum, and the tiramisu was light and delicate and it was the best one I ever ate. And there’s a bunch more of it in the fridge!

Burgers, hotdogs, baked beans, potato salad and watermelon tonight.

Leftover Dewey’s (our favorite local pizza place) calzone, spaghetti sauce for dipping, maybe a salad.

Galumpkis.

Yum!!!

Chicken-fried steak with bok choy.

Not as good as my best friend’s (half-Polish) mom used to make, but it was my first attempt.

.

I’m just heating up some leftover pizza tonight, the dog has an appointment with the vet, so it’ll be easy.

My wife made her famous beef pastel (meat pie) last night - ground beef, eggplant, onions and pine nuts rolled into puff pastry. Utterly delicious.

Tonight we’re having cheese blintzes, in honor of the holiday.

Oh my god, I want that.

Last night, grilled chicken sandwiches with provolone, lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo and fried potatoes.

They were quite nice. Neither the mango-avocado salsa, nor the wasabi cream, knocked my socks off. I think it would have been just as good with shredded cabbage, crema, and a squeeze of lime. The fish was great. I mean, seared ahi is always a winner. The taco seasoning ‘rub’ worked very well with it.

ETA: I also made jalapeño poppers. My attention lapsed, and I burned by thumb with the blowtorch, but not bad.

I’m finally able to break out the baby Weber, so tonight is hobo potatoes, gorgonzola burger and garlic green beans for me, Cambodian BBQ chicken and baked beans for my daughter.
Pretty simple, but pretty darned yummy.

Fennel and pepper encrusted (mix made by me in my coffee grinder that I never grind coffee in) smothered (with onion and much and many slivered garlic cloves) pork chops with plain white rice-- to catch all the smothering sauce.

For dessert grilled balsamic strawberries over vanilla ice cream.

Tonight is beef tips over egg noodles and glazed carrots. Tomorrow is the weekly “dinner out.”

Heh. I also have a coffee grinder I only use for spices. It’s better than the one I have for grinding coffee.
