Wallet, handkerchief, keys, USB memory stick. I left the cell phone charging. Handkerchief is not usual, but allergies are bad today. Memory stick is an off and on thing as is a pocket knife.

hat (unless it’s on my head)
a device that’s basically a small computer that does one really specific thing

Always the above. If these items are not in my pocket they are either 1) actively being used, or 2) on my bathroom counter in a “stuff holder”. Always. This is how I avoid losing said stuff. The bookmark I had 0.34 seconds ago? Gone. No idea where to find it. My “core” stuff, however, I can always locate quickly.
