What's on TV?

Yesterday, a friend of mine sent me eye TV. It’s sort of like TiVo, but you connect it to a Mac.

What a great invention- I can start wasting my limited time watching shows I’ve never had time or interest for in the past. The trouble is, I haven’t watched much TV on a regular basis in awhile, so I don’t know what to watch. About the only shows I’ve watched on a semi-regular basis is SNL and Madtv.

I really dislike “reality” shows. I like sci-fi/fantasy, but I really have no interest in the current syndicated crop that’s out there now (i.e. Buffy, Relic Hunter, Jules Verne, any Star Trek, etc.). I’ve seen a couple episodes of “John Doe”, which were interesting, and I’m a sucker for shows like the new “In Search Of” on the Sci-Fi Channel.

So what do you guys watch?

FireFly has some promise. I hope they don’t get it all cheesed up.

The “Preacher” character could be made very interesting

I caught one episode of Firefly, but I liked John Doe better (I’m comparing these two because I happened to catch them on the same night).

I have a feeling the cheese factor could get pretty high on Firefly, but maybe I should give it another chance…

That one where the guy sees thru dead people’s eyes… what’s it called? Haunted? It was pretty good.

Too bad we don’t have an anime channel, or an anime night on one of the cable/sattelite channels

Not sci/fi, but check out the new Law And Order, Criminal Intent. The bug in an Edgar suit is pretty good as an out there genius cop.

Thanks for the suggestions NoClueBoy.

No one else around here watches TV?

Yeah, we watch plenty of TV, but if you look at the usual batch of thread titles on here, you’ll notice you managed to dismiss the two most popular shows in your opening post (Buffy and Star Trek).

Since I’m a huge fan of “Buffy,” and I thought the hour of “John Doe” I’ve watched was about the biggest turdpile I’ve seen on television since the late 80’s, I doubt that you’d agree with my choices. But still, here’s my Tivo season’s pass list if you’re interested:

Home Movies (Cartoon Network)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN)
Smallville (WB)
Sealab 2021 (TOON)
Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law (CN)
Iron Chef (FOOD)
Yu Yu Hakusho (TOON)
Firefly (FOX)
Birds of Prey (WB) (I’m giving it a chance)
Kim Possible (DISNEY)
Oblivious (TNN)
Angel (WB)

Oh yeah, and I originally opened the thread just so I could say this: “Looks like a penguin.”

If you like science and are at all interested in food (eating or cooking) then check out GOOD EATS on FoodTV. It’s awesome.

Other than that, I watch Law & Order about 30 hours a week, or however many hours it’s on

I also like “Blind Date” which is a syndicated show. It’s hilarious, but it’s a “reality show” so I guess you won’t like it. But it’s so funny cuz they make fun of all the people while they’re on dates.

SolGrundy, that list is exactly the type of thing I was looking for. I guess I wanted to know what shows are interesting enough for people to record. It might be for another thread but, as much as I like sci fi/action adventure, I’ve never been interested in watching Buffy. Maybe it’s that damn frog.

I don’t think it’s a penguin- it’s head is far too large.

ZipperJJI will reserve a spot for Good Eats on my list. Blind Date is uncomfortable to watch- maybe because I’ve watched an acquaintance make an ass of himself on that show…
