Natalie’s kinda twiggy, though. Give poor Katie some props for the cleavage, huh? ![]()
I can’t get past her crooked mouth.
I agree, those sharp knees are off-putting.
Well, if she was really a talented actress, you’d believe it!
I was very impressed with her in* Pieces of April*, but the rest of her resume is rather yawn worthy.
Minor hijack:
A buddy of mine sat next to her on an airplane - they were both flying from North Carolina, where he had project work and she was just starting work on Dawson’s Creek - back to New York. The talked and he got her number. He thought she was pretty cute and told us all that he met this girl who was an actress on this new TV series. This all happened before the show was even on, so we didn’t know “Katie Holmes” from Eve - she was just this girl Tom got digits from on an airplane…for about another 6 months or so, then things blew up and she got all “It” girl…
He never called her because he was too busy. Seriously. :smack:
I liked her in Teaching Mrs. Tingle, but it wasn’t exactly the most challenging role ever. And Marisa Coughlin kept stealing my attention.
I think she’s exceptionally pretty.
Yes, I liked that movie a lot! I couldn’t believe it was her!!
And THAT would be good acting from somebody!
I’m still trying to figure out how come the other chick from Go isn’t more famous. Now she was cute. Katie Holmes has a face like a sack of sad kittens.
Maybe if she opened wider?
You mean Sarah Polley, who’s mainly stuck with smaller indie films and Canadian TV. She’s not well-known in the US, with a few exceptions. She was the annoying child in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and was the star in the recent (really good, I thought) Dawn of the Dead remake. I know her from smaller films like Last Night, eXistenZ (back when no one had heard of Jude Law either), Go, The Claim, and The Sweet Hereafter. I take it that she’s been doing another television series in Canada, where she’s from. I’m sure she’s much more famous there.
I liked Katie Holmes in Go. Her character started out being very ordinary/goodie two-shoes and then you found out that she was actually interesting and could hold her own against the creepy drug dealer. I’d never watched Dawson’s Creek so Go was my first exposure to her, and I was impressed back then.
Now, Tom can have her. I have no emotional connection with her the way I did Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz (cheers were heard round these parts when I heard of both breakups).
I didn’t mean “stuck with” in that that’s all she could get, but rather that’s been her choice.
She’s rich. Works for me.
Big Sarah Polley fan here.
Katie Holmes? Kinda bland.
You, sir, took my answer. The answer is, always has been, and will be “The Gift”. See that movie…and you will know.
Without makeup (or… feminizing makeup) she has a 13 year old pretty-boy face. She always has a weird smirk too. I don’t think her tits are all that great either. Over all, she’s nothing spectacular.
I’m a big Sarah Polley fan. I don’t even think she’s exceptionally attractive, but she’s got acting chops.
I’m a big Sarah Polley fan as well. I’ll watch chick flicks on WE if she’s in them, which is hig praise indeed. I liked her in all the movies mentioned so far, plus Guinevere, The I Inside, and The Weight of Water. I recently heard that she was second in line for the Kate Hudson role in Almost Famous, which is a shame. I liked Hudson in the role, but I think Polley would have done much better with it. Speaking of Almost Famous, Kate Holmes is similar to Anna Paquin. Very, very cute.
As for Holmes, I thought she was out of place in Batman Begins. She’s not really blockbuster material. But I thought she was good in Wonder Boys and Pieces of April. (Every time I make pancakes – which is pretty much every weekend – I think of her: “I’m the first pancake.”)
“13 year old pretty-boy face”? Uh, no.
Gads, I thought I was the only one who noticed that! Did she have a stroke or a palsy, or somethin’?
(Not to mention that I’ve only ever seen her in Batman Begins…tell me, does she always make you feel like wiping the lipstick off her face with a morning star, or was that just the character? If the latter, maybe she’s a better actress than I thought.)
