What's that clickin' noise in the MMP

I stole the title from a Henry Cho bit and it does relate to my car. When I back out of my driveway, as I cut the wheel to the left to line up in the street, I occasionally hear a clicking or tapping that seems to come from the front left tire area. I haven’t heard it when backing on a flat surface, only where the slope of the drive meets the relatively flat street. I’ll get it checked out at my next oil change (in about 1200 miles) unless I start noticing other symptoms.

Since all my driving is pretty much local, worst case is I have to call AAA or my spousal unit. But handling and braking seem normal, and it doesn’t happen any other time I back up, so I’m not too worried.

What noises, automotive or otherwise, do you choose to ignore, hoping it’s nothing?

Happy Moanday!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 97 and N.O.S. for the day. Today’s agenda is spiffin’ da cave, which is always fun. Most of the clickin’, creaky, weird noises I ignore are from my own body. I’m old and noisy apparently. I don’t worry about twuck’s noises too much since twuck is ten years old. I think I shall have to purchase new wheelz sometime in the next year.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

My Sonata is a 2012 with 168K+ miles and I’d like to keep it at least till it hits 200K - it’s really nice being without a car payment. And once I retire, the miles will stop piling up as fast. I hope.

The other thing that makes somewhat disturbing noises is the dishwasher. But it’s almost 15 years old, so it could die any time. At least if it dies, we would, worst case, have to wash dishes by hand. Oh, we’d replace it, but it’s not like a fridge or water heater that has to be replaced NOW - we could even wait for a sale if we wanted to.

Higgs makes weird noises, too, but I think that’s a pug thing.

Mooommm, you can make that click go away by turning the radio up. :stuck_out_tongue:
Summer is now officially over & Fall begins tomorrow; what does that make today?

**Spidey **- you sound just like FCD! :stuck_out_tongue:

I just finished my application for Social Security payments, to begin in January. Here’s hoping the bureaucracy works!

Oh, I thought this was going to be about an animal. We’ve got something in our yard clicking away all morning. Happens every fall. Haven’t figure out what it is.

Annoying as can be. It just goes on and on.

Look under the hood. There might be a giant on/off switch. Flip that and the noise will stop. I think I stole that from George Carlin. My car is a 2010 Camry with 115K miles. I hope to run it at least another 45K. No car payment is nice.

I decided that tomorrow is quit smoking day. Last time I quit I stayed quit for 5 years. This time I’m using the patch. I can do this!

Maybe a squirrel is giving other squirrels pedicures??? Those nail clipper can be annoying…

**wetone **- good luck with quitting. Use **Butters **as your inspiration - if she can do it, so can you!!

Blurfage My car is a 2014 Corolla with 93K miles with 99% of those being back and forth to the Grindstone. That is where I am now of course. I am only one deep here today so I may have to help out up front and deal with actual customers, the horror.

Wetone You can do it. I am almost 29 months quit and if I can do it anyone can.

Happy new week.

Wetone, good luck with the stop smoking. Never have but my mom smoked right up to the end of her life and I know what kind of grip it has. You can do it.

FCM, my car has only 27,000 miles and I plan to keep it up to 80,000 at least, so it’ll be awhile before I’m in the car market again. Got a little ‘clunk’ in the back, but I think I know what it is now, just to lazy to remove the item and confirm it. The radio cure Spidey mentions works for me.

Spidey, if this is the last day of summer, the temperature needs to really start looking like it (high of 95F today and the first day of fall is predicted to reach 96F).

Swampy, I tell people I have Rice Krispies knees; they go snap, crackle, pop whenever I stand up.

Actually made a list for the week of things to be done, we’ll see if I can manage that. all y’all have a good week now.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. Closing shift tonight. I got 65k on Carmen, and 4 more years of payments. I’m keeping it until the wheel fall off.

Gordie makes wierd noises when he see other dogs. And the clicking could be a CV joint. Or the flux capacitor.

Good luck on the quitting! I quit in 1997.

If I do that in my Nissan, it’s the steering stop rubbing against the stop panel. There’s a bolt with a plastic cover over it to stop squeaking, but over time it wears off and it’s then steel on steel.

Something in my truck squeaks as it goes down the road. It’s the bodywork, I figure, moving as the vehicle bounces along. There’s no way in hell I can diagnose it when the vehicle is stopped, so I don’t worry about it. 10+ years and still squeaking.

I seem to make odd noises whenever I stand up or sit down or lift something. Sort of a “hhnnnuuuuggggghhhh” noise. Any clues?

Happy Moonday!

It’s miserable outside, cool and raining.
I’m cold inside the house, want to turn the heat on.

Gravity. You’re welcome!

**Patch **- I considered that, but when I’m backing up on level ground, it doesn’t do that, even when the wheel is hard over. And it doesn’t do it every time I back out of the drive, but so far, that’s the only place I’ve heard it. Intermittent problems are, um, a challenge.

Back from the playground. I really like taking Roxy there - it’s clean and seems safe, and there are lots of kids, some close to her age. She’s not too big on interacting with any, tho she’s babbled at a few a couple of times. I’m hoping when she can speak English, she’ll do better. For now, I’m just glad that it wears her out. We came home, got a fresh diaper and a warm bottle, and she’s crashed. I was going to give her some soup first, but I could tell she was tired, we we went with an extra-large pre-nap bottle and that did the trick.

So now I’m having soup and trying to decide what to make for supper. I’ve got half a rotissed chickie in the fridge - maybe chickie-n-dumplins?

Mrs. L.A. likes to sit on the patio and enjoy the propane fire pit. She ran out of gas last night, so she had me make a fire in the wood stove insert in the living room. It was our first wood fire of the season.

I put a couple of small logs onto the fire some time before I went to bed at 2300. I got up at 0630, and the fireplace’s blower was running. The top of the fireplace was still very warm. Good. It was about 40ºF this morning.

Good Og woman! That’s a lotta miles! My 2012 Scion has 47k+ miles on it. I need to call the dealer and schedule my 50k checkup early 'cause they need to change out the airbag. Yeah, I got a letter.

It works, but S-l-o-o-o-o-w-l-y.

Yes you can! I quit smoking for good 32 years ago. It was the toughest thing I ever did. But worth it!

We’re hoping to close the new house this week. Wifey had a long talk with the contractor who’s gonna paint it and he said something about ice dams. (It snowed over there yesterday.) I had kinda assumed (hoped) that as long as that house has been there, that would have been addressed sometime in the past. le sigh. We’ll see.

Dinner tonight is gonna be Portugee bean soup. We had a sample of someone elses Saturday and it flung a gnawing and a craving on us. I just need to get some more white beans and kale. I could do without the kale actually, but Wifey thinks it needs to be in there.

Alla y’all peeple whot has to work; Have a good week, now!

Check that front wheel and see if anyone used a clothespin to attach a card. You probably won’t miss the clothespin, but you’ll have a better chance of winning Solitaire.

Any routine noise be it car or house or whatever I am totally able it just not hear. Once I know its nothing my brain just tunes it out. However anything new, no matter how slight, and I am instantly aware. The same thing can go for lights. Bessie has had a check engine light for two years. I ran it the first couple times and it turned out to be false (bad sensor) so now I really don’t even see it. However ---- there was this faint noise my mechanic had to pull a stethoscope to hear and should have triggered an idiot light but didn’t ----- but I heard it and it got addressed long before it could matter. One of my old bosses from ages ago used to joke me that I was the only person he knew with 60/80% hearing who could tell you when a mouse farted.

Other than that work was actual fun and I got to see an old friend from 2 years back for a while. And the packing continues. All in all life is good today.

I averaged over 3.2 mph on my walk today.
