What's the best sort of bra to keep sore boobs from jiggling?

You’d think sports bras would help, but most of my bras are sports bras already.

Since I am male this is definitely not my area of expertise, but I strongly suspect that this will be better answered personal experiences and opinions rather than by factual cites.

Moving thread from GQ to IMHO.

Are you performing a sport, or just in general?

Is your bra well fitted? There are different levels of support in sports bras. I’ve tried on some that are comfortable, but offer little restraint of movement, and others that hold the girls immobile no matter how much I jump around.

Haven’t tried this, but my friend, who is a runner and well endowed enough to need extra support, doubles up and wears a regular bra, plus a sports bra over top.

Honestly, I’ve found the fit to be far more important than the type.

I’m a large size, but in my experience, a properly fitted plunge doesn’t jiggle half as much as a badly sized minimizer or sports bra. If you’re really getting that much issue, I’d suspect that you’re maybe wearing the wrong size, probably too large band too small cup.

Personally, I’m not a fan of sports bras anyway, they flatten, but they don’t really control movement all that well. I know a few larger women who wear them over another bra…

Define sports bra, because I tried a lot of the standard cotton bullshit and it was not effective.

The bra that I have used for years both for high impact workouts and for everyday wear is Enell. It’s, um, the word I would use is… industrial. Those suckers aren’t going anywhere when you’re strapped into one of these. They do custom sizing. Very not cheap, but last for years.

I’ve tried other bras since, even gone to the fancy big bust stores, like Cacique, and nothing is as comfortable to me as these. And believe me, finding a bra you can do jumping jacks in when you’re a DDD is worth the price.

I have gone so far as to wear an Enell over a standard sports bra when I really, really want things to stay put, for example, when I’m riding horses. I don’t like posting a trot and having the girls move.

Glamorise is my go to for less extreme situations.

I like this website for helping you narrow down what type of sports bra you’re looking for. They rate type of movement, restriction and so on: Sports Bra Fitting Guide | How to Fit a Sports Bra

I’m a guy so this is not an issue I have personal knowledge of.

But I do watch Buzzfeed videos and they had a recent one where several women tried a thing called a Booband, which supposedly keeps your breasts from moving around while you’re exercising.

The sports bras that are simply made of more constrictive material give even small-breasted women like me little support. Those that work best at keeping things stationary for me have structure to them in the form of padding AND a cross/racer back as well as shoulder straps. It also helps to have them a band size smaller than I wear in t-shirt or dressy bras, but this might be extremely uncomfortable for larger-breasted women.
If the soreness is caused by PMS, try taking evening primrose oil caps every 4 hours till it goes away; works for me.

I saw Marilu Henner on TV say she wore two sports bras to jog in. Told my wife about this and that’s what she does at the gym.

Just in general. I wear sports bras because I have very sensitive skin and can’t wear normal hook bras, I can feel them digging into my back.

Try “incredible” Victoria Secrets sports bra.

A few thoughts - look for front closures, instead of back. If you’re trying a bra that does not have closures, it almost certainly is not supportive enough, which is why you’re sore. That type of bra is generally for smaller breasts.

Avoid underwire. It’s the devil’s undergarment.

If you do get a hook closure in the back, try one with 5-6 hooks. They’ll have a wide band of material padding the hooks. The ones with only 1-3 hooks are often inadequately padded, which probably isn’t helping your situation.

You could try a properly supportive bra over a tank top to reduce the impact of the hooks on your skin.

I’ll do a little looking around and see if I can find anything purpose-made for this situation. I did see something that might work for you, if I can dig it up again.

This is one option I was thinking of. SheFit. There’s a bait and switch version on Facebook. Avoid that one.

UnderArmour makes bras with gel in the straps to cushion around the hooks. Another option.

 You are a chick???

That’s ill-fitted bras. Sounds like the band is too small and possibly too narrow.

Is wearing two bras really helpful? I’ve heard of this before but never tried it. I’ve always doubted it would work.

If they’re both the same size, the second one will be at least slightly tighter over top; maybe by a 1/2 band size.

I mention a use case above. I use a specific type as my first layer, which restricts and separates the individual breasts. As my second layer, I use the Enell bra that Spice Weasel mentioned. This bra prevents anything from moving. It feels rather like I imagine armor might feel. The first bra prevents my breasts from getting crammed together into a weird uncomfortable mass in the center of my chest while I’m wearing the second.

In other situations, just imagine that you’re adding successive layers of restriction. Different bras are better at restricting specific types of movement (lateral, etc). Combining different types of bras can result in a better overall restriction of movement, particularly if you are large breasted.

what about that new bamboo bra …it opens from the front also? granted it has that as seen as tv taint tho … https://www.miraclebamboobra.com/
