In every modern Vintage paperback edition of Truman Capote’s books, the mini-bio makes a special notice of “‘Local Color,’ a collection of Capote’s exquisite travel writings and reportage.”
However, I can’t find anything else about the book - Amazon.com only offers used copies, and even then, they seem wrong - like being called “Color Local” and being published by an obviously-spanish publishing house.
So what’s the deal with it? My suspicion is that it was a previously published anthology (the most recent copies I find for sale online appear to have been published in the seventies) of writing that has since been collected in a new, alternate collection(s). Is this true? By picking up a more modern anthology, can I get these stories? If so, which one?
