What's the easiest way to get an email address to forward to multiple addresses?

Sorry, bad title, but this is what I’m trying to do…

A group of people including myself will begin an eight-month long project working with a company, consulting. Our contact in the company will be communicating with us through email quite often.

My friend suggested we open up a Gmail account we can use as an archive of all our work, and our contact can also get in touch with us through that address instead of emailing to six different addresses. Problem is, Gmail only forwards to one external address.

I do have my own webspace (UNIX), but I don’t want my domain name on the forwarding email address, and I am a little lost on .forward files. I was thinking of getting the Gmail account to forward to my webspace email, which will forward to the six of us. Sounds a little messy though, doesn’t it?

Is there an easier way to do what I’m trying to do?

You don’t say it, but I am assuming you mean that all six consultants are individual operators (like, each working at his own home.)

You can create a Google Group (or Yahoo Group), and set it so any mail to the Group will be forwarded to all members of the group.

Within a company, usually you would just set up a mailing list on the mail server–but as said I am assuming that all six of you are using your home email addresses, from different providers.
