Little Big Man, twice in a row. Then again the next day.
It’s been years since I’ve seen a movie more than once in a theater. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done it since seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark twice during the summer of 1981.
Annie Hall
I find it curious no one’s mentioned The Rocky Horror Picture Show, especially since it’s still running in this or that place around the US.
I don’t do second viewings of many movies. In or out of the movie house.
Probably the last one, and only one, I saw repeated times on the big screen was
drum roll…
2001, A Space Odyssey.
Wish I could see it again on the big screen.
Kingsmen: The Secret Service.
Thirty eight times in the late 70’s early 80’s. I had nothing else to do:D
Heh, same here. What else could have been better to do?
I saw TMNT (2014) twice, once with my family and then a few weeks later my friend dragged me to see it.
Wow. It’s hard to remember. There’s less reason to see a movie twice in theaters, since they’re released to DVD/streaming/unconventional download a short time later. I remember seeing the re-release of the first 3 (chronologically) Star Wars movies back in the 90’s, but I don’t think I’ve done repeat theater viewing since.
I’m waiting for the 1st one.
ETA: Maybe there was some kids’ movie with an anniversary run or something that I saw as a kid and then later with my kids. I’ve never consciously done so.
The original Star Wars.
Only two that qualify for me. The first was “Airplane”. It was so side-splittingly funny that I left the theater and paid to go back in and watch it again.
The second was the first Indiana Jones movie. I had to take my mother to see it as she had often spoken fondly of the '30s serials the movie was inspired by that she had seen as a youngster. As I suspected, she thoroughly enjoyed it.
“The Martian” a few weeks back.
I’ll likely be back to the theater for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 2” in a couple weeks.
Last, and only, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” Didn’t plan to see it twice.
I saw Fury Road twice in theaters in the same week. Totally worth it.
Ditto. My wife and I saw The Martian three weeks ago. Upon walking out of the theater, I told all my family and friends that it was one of the best movies I’d ever seen.
I then read the book in two sittings in less than 24 hours, and vowed to take my son to go see the movie when he came home from college this weekend. He’s a freshman engineering student, and I thought it would be a great inspiration for him. I was right – he was blown away by it.
After seeing it twice now, I can confirm that it’s right up there with my other all-time favorite film: Apollo 13.
I saw Terminator 2 twice in the theater…Also saw machete twice.
I’ve seen lots of films more than once in the theater, but in this age of quick-to-video/cable, the number has declined significantly.
I think the last one I saw twice in the theater was Watchmen.
Damn, you know, I hadn’t thought about it that way but I can’t even tell you when I last did that! When I was a teenager and full of time and money I’d see movies in the theater three or four times, but I’m searching my brain and for the life of me can’t think of when I’d have done it now. My husband saw The Avengers twice because he insisted on going at midnight when it opened and then saw it with me again later.
It’s so strange when you realize something in your life went through a major change and you didn’t even notice, isn’t it?
