What's the longest thread you've ever started?

Give me 3 last names – 524/4734

Start a mafia game sometime

As I’ve only started 3 threads my average is pretty high too.

Short of digging through my entire posting history page-by-page, I’m only going to offer one that I remember going on for a long time (thanks in large part to being featured in Threadspotting):

Funny business, 195 posts.

You can do a search: find all posts started by … from beginning … sort by number of replies … show as threads.

Well I’ll be damned. :smack:

In that case:

2004 SDMB Mock Election by Electoral Vote. I thought about doing it in 2008, but never got around to it. Now that we have the polling option enabled, the results will self-compile when I do it in 2012!

Dear Nick & Cynthia (a telephone rant) ended up with 130 posts. Lots of people came in to complain about getting calls for people who no longer had their number, or mail for people no longer at their address.

That thread was started in 2006, 11 months after I got my phone number and was angry about still getting calls for Nick and Cynthia.

I was actually considering pitting them AGAIN…because now it has been almost exactly FOUR YEARS since I got my phone number and, I kid you not, this month I have had to speak with Nick & Cynthia’s church twice about their number and call back two debt collection agencies to tell them Nick & Cynthia definitely do not live here.

These people will. not. go. away.

I haven’t checked, but it is likely one of my monthly Whatcha Reading threads. Back when I did a monthly weight loss thread, some of those got pretty long too.

135 posts. The person who presented the riddle eventually did impart the, uh, “answer”.

A part of American Democracy exported to Iraq!

I was making a joke about the whole war on poverty, terrorism, drugs naming convention. Someone found some line in the article to debate about, so it went 6 pages. I’m not sure if I even red the last page.

Maybe I’ll try starting a pit thread about some tailgating fat lady who was on her way to get her cats declawed…

…when she runs over a Republican who was about to get his son circumsized, but was refused entrance to the clinic because he wouldn’t take his shoes off…

And couldn’t use the bathroom because the toilet paper was hanging the wrong way.

And then everybody ran 5K.

Not fair. My plane-on-a-treadmill thread only went 150 replies.

My Jon-from-Garfield drinks dog semen thread got 7800 views, though.

My longest thread on this board was the Geekiest Joke Ever thread.

I know it doesn’t count, but it still amazes me. I started a thread 3 years ago on a Linux board asking how to get MLB.TV working in Linux. That thread is still going with 2270 replies.

i once posted a reply in one thread that spawned The Ron Thread.

My bf pointed out the other day that it had received over 48K views. And 521 replies.

Scary that one creepy boyfriend of my sister’s could inspire such a following.

You all secretly want him, don’t you. You sick bastahds.

Any chance Colin Powell will endorse Obama? - 118 replies
Isaac Hayes Quits South Park - 152 replies

My longest thread was this one about male views on relationships, but a lot of those posts are mine, so the thread with the most replies from other people is Who paid for your schooling?.

This one on Harriet Myers in Great Debates got 476 replies and almost 12,000 views.

Back when I used to do MMPs one of them got 461 replies and about 4000 views.

I found 19 threads with more than 100 replies.

Ah, one of my Poker threads: The SDMB World Poker Tour on Pokertropolis…Rude and Grim when you go All-In, weighing in at 607 replies and 5887 views.
