So, what’s the most disturbing thing you’ve chosen to watch, whether on TV, or at the movies, or a video, or in person, or whatever?
Yesterday I looked up what the song “Nice Shot” by Filter was about. It’s about the public suicide of Budd Dwyer, a Pennsylvania state treasurer who was convicted of taking bribes, and during a press conference a day before sentencing took out a gun, put it in his mouth, and pulled the trigger. Morbid curiosity took over me and I looked up the video wondering if I’d find it. Turns out it’s easy to find clips of what happened.
I don’t regret watching it and it hasn’t affected me negatively, but I still consider it disturbing. Anyone else want to share?
Hostel II - I downloaded a pre-release rough cut of it (almost exactly the same as the released version, so that in itself is moot). It was kind of disturbing, much more than the Saw franchise, IMHO.
Well, watching people jump out of the WTC in NY on 9/11 was disturbing, but I did watch every bit of footage that was aired live on various channels.
However, I did watch a movie called War/Dance. It’s about these children in Uganda who have lost parents and been forced to do terrible things. One girl tells the story of how she was taken out to identify her mother’s body. They pulled various decapitated heads out and showed her and she saw her mother’s head.
It’s a documentary and I was numb with shock, grief, and sadness.
A couple years ago I was browsing though some website with examples of twisted asian porn. One of them was an otherwise naked Japanese woman stomping a kitten to death with a high heel. I’m pretty tolerant when it comes to sexual fetishes, but what kind of sick fuck would actually get turned on by that?
A team of fully equipped professional butchers dismantling a steer. Less than three minutes from being a live, on-the-hoof critter to skinned, gutted and quartered meat.
OK, here you go: This is a serious warning: This will be the most horrendous thing you can see. People burned as witches. I had heard about it but watched it anyway. I don’t think I can ever forget it. You are warned (broken link and spoilered).
A documentary on child sex abuse that included extracts of child pornography for a college class. It was unpleasant. Also pretty much anything on www.charonboat.com. It’s extremely disturbing and NSFW. There’s stuff like autopsy photos (including children & rape victims), disaster photos, footage of horrible accidents, executions, body farms, etc.
As for what I and AWB saw, just Google Budd Dwyer and then click Google Videos if you really want to watch it.
A few months ago I found the first “Faces of Death” on-line. I almost watched it, especially since I’ve heard that a lot of it was fake. But the first thing they were going to show was seals getting clubbed. Even though I value human life over animal life, there’s no way I could watch that. I thought about fast forwarding through it, but the video was loading too slow, so I just skipped it altogether.
‘Torture Porn’ like the stuff Uwe Bole puts out, is one thing. Even if you have to cover your eyes for a time, you know, in your brain, it’s just acting and special effects. The stuff that is real life, like the spoilered link you posted, well, it’s real. Makes it so much more horrifying.
For me watching the public suicide, it was for a couple of reasons. First, I didn’t think they would have a clip of it on the Internet (naive, I know) and then second, I really wondered if they would show the results or they would cut away. To my surprise, they showed him pulling the trigger, and then the aftermath, which wasn’t as gruesome as you’d expect.
