What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Two good ones yesterday. The first was a 1963 Plymouth Valiant convertible just coming out of winter storage. It had half the tarp off and was still on blocks. Looked road ready.

The second was a 1967 Pontiac GTO parked on the street, looked fast just sitting there.

A late 60’s Ford Galaxie 500 2-door, in white. What a long body, it dwarfed the other cars on the road.

And a final generation (1987-91) Jeep Grand Wagoneer, with faux wood paneling and everything. You could almost hear it burning oil.

Recently I’ve seen a tiny 2-door Suzuki X-90 and a red Pontiac Acadian, the Pontiac version of the Chevette. Both looked to be in decent shape.

On Tuesday I saw what appeared to be a Hudson, southbound on the 5 in Burlington.

Oh, and the Lotus Elise showed up again in the office parking lot, out now that the salt is off the roads. It was parked next to a full sized pickup truck, with the noses lined up, and the Lotus’ rear bumper didn’t clear the truck’s crew cab.

A 1970 Ford Maverick. I thought they had all rusted away to nothing.

A Ford Ranger four-door pickup in that stupid chrome-orange with Dubai plates.

I saw something I never saw before, a 1970 Dodge Xplorer Class B motor home

It was for sale at a garage that does lots of old stuff, in talking (& crawling thru it…for over an hour) it’s because there were only 24 made & only 4 are known to still exist. It’s for sale & needs both body & interior work but the engine runs great. Apparently, all parts are still available if you know a good body guy.

Seen on the way to work yesterday, slowly overtaking me on the interstate: Mid-1970s Dodge Dart ‘Swinger’ coupe. Gold/bronze-ish. Plain black painted steel wheels with small “dog dish” hubcaps ( I always though cars so equipped came with the wheels painted body color ). Really ruined the look of the car IMO. Very good shape from what I could see: looked to be a “survivor car” and not a restoration. Very small diameter single exhaust…guess it had the 225 slant-six.

Funniest part was the license plate: A vanity plate the spelled out ‘OBSOLETE’.

Drop dead gorgeous Shelby Cobra 427 in blue. I think it was original but could have been a replica. It had Cobra badging so I think it was real. License plate 02 DI 4. Parked next to our car as we got back from a hike in Zion National Park.

An SC 560 Suburban

In Paso Robles this weekend, a nice looking 2019 Corvette

An AMG/Mercedes E-series wagon from the aughts. ('03 maybe?). It was moving quickly down the highway in Wisconsin and it looked showroom floor perfect. Even in the snow that was coming down.

Three 911s flying in formation. One had the plate 999 ZED, by the way.

Spent a lot of my commute behind a Great Wall Haval H-9

A car I hadn’t heard of before, a Buick Wildcat. This was a two door hardtop, and according to the vanity plates a 66. It looked really sharp!

Every year there’s a massive car show in Forest Park in St. Louis on Easter Sunday. I didn’t go this year. I need to make sure I go next year. Most amazing car show I’ve ever seen.

I saw the Wildcat on the highway this evening.

I saw some flavour of McLaren today. I’ve never spotted one in the wild before.

On the commute home Thursday, I saw an Audi R8.

Mid-70’s Jensen Interceptor droptop (fewer than 300 made!), on a back road near Willis, TX.

I’d never heard of those cars before. Very cool! They wedged some big-ass powerplants into those, didn’t they? Wiki says they were using Chrysler 440 cubic inch V8s at one point. Vroom vroom! And one variant of the Interceptor was a four wheel drive. Really interesting. Thanks for introducing me to that car!

My first car was a '65 Wildcat 4-door.
