What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Me too. Sign me up for the Polestar 2.

A Buick Gran Sport (Skylark based), I’m guessing 1970 or 1971. I saw the nose poking out of a garage on my walk today, and when I came back it was in the driveway while the owner was cleaning the garage.

Also, a neighbor has a Rivian now. My neighborhood is apparently quite hip.

A red Comet convertible, no idea of the year. Sorry for the blurry shot, it’s a blow up from a quick snap I got while driving. It looks orange in this pic, but it was a bright red.

1965 Mercury Comet.

Thanks.

Specifically a Comet Caliente, the only version available as a convertible.

Thanks for that. But, I get a 403 Forbidden on that link.

Here’s a 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente on Mecum:

Looks like it has a broken spring.

Yeah, a bad list to the right. I couldn’t see the passenger, but I doubt she weighed enough to cause that.

Could be that some heavy person sat on that side so often that the spring wore out. “Wheeler Dealers” recently covered this phenomenon in a delivery van: worn spring on the driver’s side because virtually nobody ever sat on the passenger side.

It’s clearly one of the last warm days out there as I have seen all the usual local suspects except for the Lotus. Somebody has a new, white Hyundai Elantra N and just switched to an obnoxious exhaust for it. I’m guessing this person is employed at the local tuner shop as the car has been back and forth outside my condo about 8 times today. So far.

I spotted my first Tesla Plaid in Beverly Hills on 9/04. Since then I’ve been looking for the Plaid. I checked hundreds of Teslas in the past month. Finally today I spotted one!

0-60 MPH in 1.99 seconds; 200 MPH top speed — the Tesla S Plaid. These are recognizable by the simple logo on the rear end. There aren’t too many out there. They cost about $130,000.

Today I saw a 1989–1992 Ford Ranger (the facelifted first generation model). Old Rangers aren’t that uncommon, but this one was in really nice shape, at least cosmetically. It looked like it could have been brand new, not like a 30 year old pickup. I wish I could have gotten a picture, but I was driving at the time.

Spotted a second generation Pontiac GTO driving home from the mountains on Monday. And parked on a front lawn with a for sale sign was a Buick Grand National with a massive hood bulge that looked like this, only in grey.

That must’ve been cool. But… hope this doesn’t diminish your experience… but it wasn’t THE Weinermobile… my classroom looked out over a huge parking lot full of dozens of Oscar Mayer Weinermobiles!

And one small one made from a Mini Cooper. Same color scheme, same weinie, but smaller. License plate said LIL LINK

eta: Found a pic!

I actually knew that (I went to college in Madison, the home base of the Weinermobiles). I should ahve said, “I saw a Weinermobile.”

I think I found the home of the Hyundai Equus that I’ve spotted out and about over the last few months. That hood ornament really screams “Take me seriously!”

It’s just a coat hook not place vertically.

I crawled out from under my rock and rode my motorcycle to The City today. Saw an Orange Lambo.

Two BMW R1250RTs for the San Jose Police this morning, where I was gassing up. The officers were looking for frequent right turn violators at a specific intersection where the right turn lane gets backed up badly.

Those R1250RTs look sweet. I had an R1200RT for over 15 years and I sold it last year. I’m now without a bike for the first time in 38 years. I miss riding.
