I saw Bella, a nicely restored '56 Chevy Panel truck out in Carlisle where I was mountain biking.
The Aston-Martin Vantage at the gas station was only the 3rd most interesting vehicle I saw today.
#2 was a 50’s (or maybe 60’s) era ice cream truck, kinda like this .
The most interesting vehicle was a Ural with a patrol sidecar (Painted just like this, but w/o the cover.) Way cool!
The most headscratching plates I’ve ever seen were the Hawaiian plates on a rental truck… in Toronto. These were far more puzzling that the Guanajuato (sp?) Mexican plates I saw on a car parked outside a convenience store in Mississauga (a suburban city near Toronto). At least you can actually drive to Canada from Mexico…
There used to be a Ural with sidecar on my commute. I wonder if he’ll be back with the warmer weather.
I’ve long been intrigued by the Ural SoloT (well, since it came out) but it really seems to be a masochist’s bike. Owners love them dearly, but even they concede they aren’t good bikes without a ton of work.
Chevy El Camino. Owner had obviously done all the bondo, but still… I came up behind him, gave a small toot on the horn, when he looked in his mirror, gave him a big thumbs up. Pulled up next to him at the light, rolled down the window and asked where his surf board was. Not much surfin’ in Austin, he replied.
I used to collect Matchbox cars when I was a kid. Glad to see that you still kept some of yours.

In all seriousness, a Bentley Flying Spur. Graduation weekend is the one time of year in this town when high end luxury cars and exotics outnumber outnumber battered Volvo 240 wagons.
This snark is unnecessary. This is the Dope. We are the seekers of truth and lifelong learners so of course we got the reference.
The bus I am on was just passed by a Maserati. With Ontario plates, even, so it’s not a visitor.
We caught up with it at the lights.
On my way home I saw a lovely Jaguar XK convertible in grey, and I thought that would be it, but I saw another (in black) later so that couldn’t be it. Then, coming through Harvard Square I saw a late 80’s Mitsubishi Delica van that stood out from all the other cars around it.
I have a Deco Classic, but I’m thinking about changing to a Patrol paint scheme.
There is no snark intended. I know a great number of British car collectors who wouldn’t necessarily know Triumph’s first car. I would wager a bag of tacos that the vast majority of Dopers under the age of, say, 40 have never even seen or heard of a Triumph, MG, Sunbeam, or Morris. I would submit that a Triumph 10/20 is not a well-known vehicle, even around these parts. I could be wrong.
Today? Nothing that caught my eye except a Cadillac Allanté. Really stood out from the usual Ferraris and Maseratis around Oak Brook. Really, around here owners of highend Acuras and BMWs can’t buy any attention. Yesterday I saw a nice Benz 560SL I would kill for, but nothing much today.
Saw a new BMW i3 down the street. It was quite a bit bigger than I expected from pictures. I thought they were small city cars like a Fiat Panda but they’re actually the size of a CUV.

A mid-70’s Land Rover, complete with tire on the bonnet.
Yesterday I saw two old MGs, I think one was an MGB coupe in British racing green and the other was an MGC. Lots of older cars were on the road this weekend.
This wasn’t today, but sometime last week I saw a parked Red Bull car. I’m assuming it’s some kind of official advertisement thing, or one very, very dedicated fan.
