Two mid-1990s Chevy Impala SSs in the same week. After seeing a black one a couple of days ago, today I saw a maroon one. It flew past me on the freeway.
Finally saw a Tesla.
There is a store about 20 miles up the road (an upscale suburb) but I had never seen one.
Model S
A Chevy Cruze today, red, and on a sunny day that red really popped. Almost like an arrest-me-red. I looked on the Chevy site and that color is called ‘Red Hot’. Indeed it is red hot: https://www.google.com/search?q=Chevy+Cruze+red+hot+color&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=isnv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj_v8DT287MAhVOz2MKHX5sDtYQ_AUIBygB&biw=1024&bih=672#imgrc=Cz0Chrrhjf0_pM%3A
But, pictures don’t do it justice. See one on a bright sunny day. It’s a hot color, but not obnoxious. It is pretty nice.
A DeLorean hovercraft at last night’s SF Giants game!
A 1st generation Porsche 911 in gold. It looked so much smaller and less bulky than the current versions.
A Porsche 944 in Guards Red - I think that’s what that red is called. It’s the bright Arrest-Me red, but on this car there was a slight fade to the red. Just enough to take the edge off of it.
Yes those 911s are tiny.
A Toyota Paseo convertible in dishwater gray, so that’s 1995-99. A 20 year old car that felt old the day it left the dealer’s lot.
I didn’t realize the Paseo came in a convertible. It’s a humble car (images: Toyota Paseo convertible - Google Search) that reminds me a bit of the slightly smaller Geo Metro convertible (images: geo metro convertible - Google Search).
I saw Illinois plate 123 yesterday evening.
Just ‘123’ and that’s it? Pretty cool, did you take a picture?
No photo, sorry.
Waaaay back on page 1 of this thread, I posted about seeing Illinois plate O.
I still see this one every couple months and as recently as in the last week.
Oh well, cool anyway.
Speaking of license plates, saw a personalized VA plate the other day that I simply cannot figure out. It was on a plate with the American flag as a back ground (if that matters) and said “F EQ -F”. Anybody have any idea what the hell that means?
Saw two: a 1956 Pontiac with a hood ornament similar to this one; and what was either a 65 or 66 Chrysler Imperial 2-door convertible. What a boat!
I saw a Tesla yesterday. It was cool-looking!
I live near a bunch of custom body-shops, so I see unusual cars pretty frequently.
Maybe it’s a SW dev code or script thing, maybe DOS or Unix OS (because of the - switch)…? I am curious about it too.
He actually drives it as his work car. Seen quite a bit on the road.
Right now, there is a beautiful Pininfarina parked across the street. Looks like a mid-60s vintage 250; black convertible with a tan interior.
Interesting. I guess he either is single, or he is humbly married. Just a guess. I don’t see that car as being a babe magnet.
Moving on, I’d never seen the Tesla X SUV on the road before. Today within 2 minutes I saw two of them.
I’d talked before of never seeing a new 911 targa in the wild. Yesterday I saw one parked in front of a used car dealership, one selling specialty cars. That counts! Because it wasn’t a Porsche dealership.
I agree with the poster who said he’s never liked the targa because it breaks up the lovely lines of the 911, especially the older ones. I definitely agree. The 911’s C pillar and ovaled rear side windows is a beautiful line, and the old targas break that line. However in the new 911 I think the design works better. But I also admit my bias, my first car was a targa top (X1/9) and I am partial to the targa functionality.
Yesterday was Studebaker day. I stumbled upon a Studebaker shop in Redwood City CA - this place, Studebakers West, http://www.studebakerswest.net/. Out front there were two Studebaker Avantis and also a Studebaker Hawk. Later, driving home, I saw the same Hawk on the freeway. Was very cool.
Yesterday I was in a target-rich environment, Redwood City CA.
I’ve been seeing modified Honda S2000s lately. After I posted the above I saw a lowered, widened with fender flares S2000 with near-race slicks for tires. Driving on city streets. This is the third modded S2000 in the last 10 days.
