What's the most interesting car you saw today?

This one was pretty interesting - walmart parking lot in northern WI.

Surprised it’s not green and gold.

An Aston Martin Rapide S

Who the heck drives a $200K car on a day like this?

Tesla X, surprised to see it out in the sloppy weather with the melting snow and salt spraying everywhere.

That’s the “SUV” Tesla, isn’t it? Wouldn’t it be more surprising to see a Roadster in the slushy and sloppy weather?

I too just saw an X on my way home from work Friday. First sighting of one of those for me.

The Tesla X has standard AWD, so I’d expect it to be used in snowy conditions as a daily driver. People who buy them drive them every day, so if you live in a snowy place you know what you’re getting yourself into. IMO, they’re not a luxury car although they have nice appointments, they’re expensive cars.

Saw another Alfa Romeo Giulia yesterday, still a fine looking car.

Yes, it is the AWD Tesla, I just wasn’t expecting someone to let their $80,000 car get full of salt spray and put it in the path of drivers who can’t handle snow.

But what else would you do, if you were a Tesla owner?

It’s one thing to leave your impractical two-seater sports car garaged until the weather is good again, but the reason you buy an $80,000 SUV (or, at least, the reason i would buy one) is precisely that you want to be safe and comfortable, and that would probably apply most dramatically when the weather is shitty outside. When it’s 24 degrees, and the roads are slippery, and there are crappy drivers all over the place—that’s precisely when i want my modern, quiet, comfortable, incredibly safe piece of techno-wizardy.

And unlike an Italian sports car from the 1970s (or plenty of other cars, for that matter), a modern car isn’t going to rust and fall apart after encountering a bit of wet and some salt. At least, not if you maintain it properly.

This past weekend I saw a Maserati Levante SUV up in ski country, heading up to the mountain in about -5F temperatures. Seemed like it was pretty usual for whoever owned it; their regular ski car.

A fleet of about a dozen open topped double-decker buses, all custom wrapped, each with different, relatively small (2-3’) sponsor logos; don’t know if they were part of the wraps or overlays. (I wasn’t that close, w/ the huuuuge crowd)

How long does it take to print/install a wrap, especially one that large as they couldn’t have gotten the order before Monday?

Not in person, but this.

It looks a bit cartoonish! To me…

I saw a Porsche 911 GT3, in white and with a tail, like this gImage (Porsche 911 GT3 white - Google Search), and this one (Porsche 911 GT3 white - Google Search). The tail is not small, but also not overstated or obnoxious. It’s almost delicate.

I like it. I’ll have to add it to my [del]shopping[/del] dream list.

The GT3 is a great-looking car, and one of the few high-performance European cars you can still buy with a manual gearbox. I got to drive one a few years back, when my wife bought me a few laps at a local track for my birthday. The version i drove was the PDK (paddle-shift automatic) version, which was probably good, because with the eye-popping acceleration and the incredible brakes, i barely had time to think about gear changes. Having to deal with a third pedal and a gearshift would have been sensory overload.

I saw a passenger van this morning. In big bold letters on the front it proclaimed “SCAT VAN.”

I’m guessing you’ve got to be a pretty shitty person to get a ride in that.

As God is my witness, I saw a Tesla in space.

:stuck_out_tongue:

A circa 1970 Olds 442 convertible. It was on the back of a tow truck so maybe not in working shape.

Was it a Saint Charles Area Transit van? I always thought they could have picked a better name for that service. Yeah, I know, “scat” can also mean “leave in a hurry”. And it can refer to a style of singing. But, nowadays, I think those senses are fading juuuust a bit. Thanks, Internet Porn!

Earlier in the week it was a yellow Aston Martin Vantage.

Today, an old International Scout.

I was thinking one of those doggy cleanup services.

Two small sporty cars, in San Carlos CA: a BMW 2002tii, and a Porsche 914, faded orange (or was it faded red), quickly carving the twisties on Edgewood Road.
