What's the most interesting car you saw today?

Yesterday, in the pit, I spied an old British classic.

Thought it was a Rolls-Royce, or maybe a Daimler.

This was an Austin Princess…year 1951.

A 2017 Kia Nira - another hybrid that I didn’t know existed.

Also the fifth generation (1967-72) Ford 100 Custom pickup was back in the work parking lot. Spring is here and some fun cars are coming back on the roads.

My wife and I test drove a Niro before we got our current car (a Bolt). We liked the Niro a lot. Pretty nice inside and good mileage for a big vehicle. We were tempted, mostly for the extra space, but we both prefer smaller cars, so we ended up not getting it. The Bolt is pretty spacious inside for a smaller car, so it did the trick for us.

A first generation (1980ish) Mazda RX-7. Pretty car!

A first generation Dodge Intrepid with the 3.5l v6.
You can tell it’s the better engine by the two exhaust pipes.
At the time the ad copy buzzword was ‘cab forward.’
My dad had one of these and it was pretty zippy.

And today, a BMW I8. Supercar looks!

A VPG MV-1. I see them occasionally and their silhouette is immediately recognizable. It’s one of the ugliest vehicles on the road, but functional I’m sure.

Saw a 1980s BMW 3-series (E30, not E21) in Gold Metallic today, looked to be in mint condition. Hate the color though - 70s browns and 80s golds were awful car colors back then.

A Tesla Semi…okay, so it’s not a car.

Wow! Did you see it out on the road, or on display somewhere?

They’re here making a pick up. There’s a black and a silver/gray one.

A Dodge Challenger painted with a Black/White/Gray Camouflage pattern

Seen a Prius to day outfitted to look like one of the cars from Jurassic Park.

A 1970 Yenko Deuce. I’d read of them, but only 175 were made, so I’d never seen one before. If you’ve never heard of it, that’s understandable. It was a special Chevy Nova. Basically all the high performance parts of a Camaro Z-28, installed in a family-friendly sedan. I only saw it briefly, as it was going the other way, but it looked clean, original, maybe restored.

1970 Yenko Deuce Novas — I’d never heard of them before.

The stripe is distinctive (gImages: 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova - Google Search). With only 175 made, I doubt I’ll ever see one, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled. Very cool!

Two Maseratis in the space of 30 seconds; a Levante SUV and a Quattroporte.

That Yenko Deuce was the 2nd rarest car I’ve seen being driven on public roads. The rarest I’ve seen was a 1964 Ford Thunderbolt. These were little Fairlanes built for drag racing, not really meant for street use. I drove alongside one at about 40mph. That 427 sounded angry, like Hell was about to break loose. I was driving my wife’s Prius. The Thunderbolt driver would not accept my challenge, so unless you’ve seen a T-bolt race a Prius, we really don’t know which car is quicker.

A friend just told me that he owns a Maserati Mexico with a 4.7, one of 175 made. But I haven’t seen it yet, just a photo.

Traveling up north recently has allowed me to see a (fleet of) Snow Coach(es), Ford Econoline passenger vans w/ the wheels/tires replaced by triangular treads.

& this 1924 Martin-Wasp touring car.
& the back of this sign @ Hemmings (Motor News) gas station & store says, “Have a top-down, straight-eight, three-on-the-tree, hemi-powered, turbo-boosted, souped-up, foot-to-the-floor, checkered-flag kind of day”.

saw what I believe was a Tesla Model S. Very nice looking.
