I’ve been to Bodie as well.
How about Gouverneur, New York, population ~4,000? My girlfriend’s family is from there.

On my last trip to Paris, I found where *A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte *was painted. It was a real pain in the ass, finding the exact spot where Seurrat stood, since everything’s changed now. But there were clues in the shore lines.
Yo
Sorry, didn’t read the thread, but I skiied Mt. Chacaltaya in Bolivia. At the time, it was the highest permanantly establisted ski area (17250 ft). One of my best memories…
Along with a certain anatomical endowment of a “Gabriealla” from Brazil…
Bet no Doper been between them, either! Oh, man, they were awsome…
I was in General Santos City when it was known as Dadiangus.
Anyone been to Bugo on Mindanao?
How about Chittagong or Chalna, Bangladesh?
Paradip, India?
The island of Niue in the South Pacific?
Belawan, Sumatra?

Port Said, Egypt?
Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, PA?
I have been to Laid, Scotland- population about 10 more or less. I loved the name.
Heh. Just down 321 from Norway. I’d forgotten about your educational stay in the Palmetto State.
I find it hard to believe that I’m the only Doper to have eaten in the Congressional Dining room, or whatever it’s called (a half-assed Googling produced nothing).
Maybe the others who have done so, just haven’t seen this thread yet.
I have been to Jarabacoa, and there is a really neat waterfall outside of town, we had to hike for about 15 or 20 minutes to get to it, but it was worth the effort.
Port Arthur, Tasmania, but I am sure some of our Down Under dopers have been there.
Blackwaterfoot, Isle of Arran, Scotland? Well, just outside of it at a B&B. Or the Machrie Standing Stones just to the north of there. Then the next night at Lochgilphead, Scotland. Then there is the Bridge Over the Atlantic, connecting Seil Island with the mainland just south of Oban, Scotland.
And there was getting my feet wet at Lake Superior Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada while looking at the pictographs at Agawa Rock. It can be dangerous to climb out and look at them, especially if the lake is active. But interesting to look at.
In Florida: Ft Lonesome, Ft Meade, Lake Wales, Poinciana, Clewiston, Moorehaven, South Bay, Venus, Lake Placid, Palmdale, Davenport, Clermont, Auburndale, Avon Park…
Richardson’s Cove, Harrisburg, and Pittman Center, TN? Calhoun, GA?
And what of Whittier, Ela, and Bryson City, NC?
I’ve been to Surabaya.
How about Sabang, Banda, or Meulaboh, Indonesia;
Dudinka, Russia;
Basra, Mosul, or Hilla, Iraq?
Yeah, like I’ve said, I’ve been there twice. The last time was in 1995. Giants third baseman at the time Matt Williams was there at the top, too. That was weird.
Wow, well you get major props for knowing (or at least taking the trouble to google) that Boboshevo is in Kyustendil oblast. I’m impressed.
Yeps. Beautiful - I was very impressed with the old Khanate cities in Uzbekistan - Bokhara was very nice, too.
How about Minab, Iran?, where (some of) the women wear strange masks that makes the market look like a superhero convention?
And Sewan Sharif, Pakistan? - Contains the tomb of the famous Sufi saint Lal Qualander. Oh, and also Mohenjo Daro, Pakistan - home of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
One more: the ghost town of St. Elmo, Colorado?
Base brat? That’s the only reason anyone would want to be in Dundurn. Unless you were in the reserves?
I’ve been through it, but don’t remember it specifically. Did you stop at Smoo, just along the coast?
Yep. I’ve done quite a bit of travel in the Colorado Mountains. St Elmo is only 60 miles from Alma, which is the closest town to where I live.
We flew and floated some gear and spent fuel barrels from Eagle to Ft. Yukon after using them in the Yukon-Charlie Preserve.
Yep, that’s Duckster’s “office.”
