What's up with IMDB now?

IMDB has expanded a little, putting more work into TV shows (or letting the users do the work?) which is cool, but it’s not getting done very well. I recall a mention here some time back about how the episode listings for actors and guest appearances was wreaking havoc on actors’ listings.

While playing tdn’s TV chain game, I came across a lot of crappy listings…

Like the listing for the Carol Burnett Show which does a swell job of listing guests and people who appeared 1-3 times…but it fails to list ANY of the core stars at all!! Carol and Tim Conway’s pages show them as appearing on the show, and Conway is listed as a writer…but they’re not in the cast :frowning:

I saw this with a ton of other shows that I won’t name lest it spoils tdn’s game.

Anyway, is anyone here a “regular” at the IMDB and knows what’s going on?

The problem is that they appear to be sorting by the episode count field, which means that any regulars, who wouldn’t have needed a tabulation of episodes, are being excluded. I’m sure there’s more to it than that, but that certainly seems to be part of it.

Using your example, if you click on Tim Conway, he appears as a cast member, but only gives the date range, not the episode count. Some shows (MASH, Friends*) are more current, with both date ranges and episode counts, but I still don’t like that a date range is only included in a TV cast member’s individual bio if they were only on the show for part of the run. Looking at Alan Alda’s page, for example, there’s no way to know who long MASH* ran without having to click on the link.
