What's Up With The Colors On My Google Address Bar?

I tried finding this out by googling it, but came up with zilch.

Anyway, the address bar can be yellow, grey, purple and green and just a while ago, it was a mix between yellow and black, producing a kind of “gold”.

Can anyone explain this, please?

What browser? Do you mean the part circled in red in this image? :

If so, I’ve never seen it in any other color than white (normal) or blue (text highlit)

I use IE9, george, and your red line runs through the colors I was talking about (yours is grey at present) at the top.

Yes, BeaMyra, that looks right, and it does mention the colors. My PayPal links do always show green, for instance and I have seen all the colors I mentioned in the OP, and I suspected it was degrees of security, but wasn’t sure.
