**1) Shower or bath? ** - Shower. I don’t have a bathtub.
2) Morning or evening? - Both. I need a shower to wash off the sleep, and my wife won’t let me in bed unless I’m clean.
3) Length? - 5-15 minutes each. Evening is usually longer than morning, unless there’s something good on TV.
4) Temperature? - Hot.
5) “Order of events”? - Nothing fixed. I usually get to my face last.
6) Bar soap or gel + loofah? - Bar of soap (white Dove, only)
**
7) Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat**? - Usually the former, unless I’m really dirty.
**
8) Anything ‘non-standard’ habits? (like brushing your teeth or preparing food, a la Kramer )** - I shave in the shower every morning.
Mind if I ask why you don’t own a shower? Granted you might not be in North America, in which case it wouldn’t be so unusual. But I always think of clawfoot tubs as being an American thing and most American houses have a shower as well. Unless maybe you live in an old farm house?
Prezactly. Our house was built in the late 1800s. We don’t even have a good spot to install one. We may go with the shower extension thingy on the clawfoot, but my husband isn’t much for household projects, so I’m going to have to hire someone to install it.
Shower or bath? - Bath and shower before going to bed, which is often in the morning…but when I’m not working it’s often at night.
Morning or evening? yes!
Length? 20 minutes- 1 hr
Temperature? - Hot bath, warm shower
“Order of events”? - Dunk my hair, shampoo, rinse, condition hair, twist and clip up (I have VERY long hair which needs major conditioning to stay shiny). Wash face, then either moisturize or apply a mud mask. (Yay blue mud! and brown mud! But I need to throw out white mud because I didn’t read the ingredients well enough, and it’s full of burning. Why would anyone want their face mentholated?)
Add various fun bath additives, bubbles, bombs, bath salts, sachets (not all at once). Read random thrift store paperback, flick bubbles at the cat so he stops trying to walk on the edge of the tub (he thinks he wants to share bath time. He is wrong. You’d think that one time he actually jumped in, then realized it was FULL of WATER, ACK ACK ACK ABORT! would have taught him he doesn’t need in the bathroom, but you’d be wrong.)
Remove mud mask with warm washcloth, if applicable. Stand up, drain bath and turn on shower, wash bod and rinse out conditioner.
Wring out hair for several minutes before getting out so I don’t flood the place with dripping. Giant bath towel, hair in towel turban, it will take about 7 hours to dry now…
Bar soap or gel + loofah? - Yes. I love bath products. Right now I’m cycling through oatmeal almond bar soap, orange gel, ginger gel, and lavender.
Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat? - once, light on the shampoo.
Anything ‘non-standard’ habits? See above. My nightly bath is pretty much my entire daily beauty regimen, mental health status check, sleep aid, and possibly religion.
Water conservation? Heresy!
[sub] Ablutions 12:16 Yea, shalt thou pelt the unbeliever unmercifully with bath bombs and exile them from thy sanctuary. Ablutions 12:17 Yet not with the fizzing bath bombs, nor the ones with glitter, for they are precious in my sight. Ablutions 12:18 And if thou canst remove them immediately, fret not, but patient. Ablutions 12:19 Consider the yellow ducky, who floats on calm or splashy waters, and be thou calm in thy tribulation. Ablutions 12:20 For they shall be out in 5 minutes, tops.[/sub]
“Order of events”? Shampoo & rinse, soap neck to feet then rinse, wash face then rinse.
Bar soap or gel + loofah? Bar soap only.
Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat? Lather & rinse.
Anything ‘non-standard’ habits? (like brushing your teeth or preparing food, a la Kramer ) Occasionally I’ll have to let loose with some residual pee (I pee in the terlet before getting in the shower, but sometimes the reserve tank needs to be emptied after a few minutes); occasionally (if I’ve had a particularly arousing dream and haven’t had time to roll the wife over for a quickie) I’ll rub one out; about 2x/week I’ll shave in there. Can’t do it every day or I’ll get nasty razor burn- on off days I use an electric after getting out.
I’m surprised to hear how many people brush their teeth in there, that has never even occurred to me. Isn’t it quite a waste of water?
Shower or bath? I like both, but I tend to at least “rinse off” after baths. Showers are mandatory; baths are luxury.
Morning or evening?* Whenever I feel dirty. I’m pretty neutral on time of day.*
Length? As long as it takes to do everything that’s needed. Between 5 and 20 minutes.
Temperature?* Between warm and hot. If it feels scalding on my scalp or face, it’s too hot.*
“Order of events”? Rinse hair, wash hair, rinse hair, condition hair, pile hair on top of head, wash body with Japanese exfoliating towel, rinse body, rinse hair, wash face. If I brush my teeth during this, I’ll do it before I do anything else.
Bar soap or gel + loofah? I use bar soap and gel and switch depending upon my mood. I do prefer gel, though.
Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat? Lather, rinse.
Anything ‘non-standard’ habits? (like brushing your teeth or preparing food, a la Kramer Occasionally I’ll brush my teeth, rinse my sinuses, or shave my legs. Tooth brushing and sinus rinsing come first, and leg shaving comes last.
Hazle Weatherfield: Peeing in the shower isn’t that gross, and it’s actually fairly well known amongst some people that peeing on one’s feet while in the shower can help prevent/treat athlete’s foot.
Morning or evening?
Shower every morning. If I want a bath, it’s in the evening - I take baths to relax, not necessarily to get clean.
Length?
Half an hour if I had the time & enough hot water. Realistically, about 10-15 minutes unless I’m shaving my legs
Temperature?
As hot as I can stand it. I like to leave showers & baths lobster red
“Order of events”?
a. Stand under hot water until I’m awake enough to think
b. Wash & condition hair
c. wash body & shave if I need to
d. wash face
e. exfoliate if I need it
Bar soap or gel + loofah?
I’m a bath product junky, so both soap & gel. I don’t use a loofah/scrubby though. If I need to exfoliate, I use a salt or sugar scrub
Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat?
Lather, rinse, condition
Anything ‘non-standard’ habits?
Sometimes I moisturize in the shower. Oil of Olay sells an in-shower moisturizer (kind of like a conditioner for your body). You rub it on then rinse it off. A body oil works well too, but it makes the shower really slippery
Shower. I do prefer baths, but my current tub has sliding doors instead of a curtain, which ruins the ambiance.
Evening. I hate the feel of getting dressed after bathing; plus, my hair needs at least eight hours to air dry (and using a hairdryer would be impractical and tedious).
15-30 minutes, depending.
As hot as I can bear.
Shampoo, wash face, shave underarms, put in conditioner, wash body, shave legs, rinse conditioner. (Hair washing occurs 3x a week; shaving on an as-needed basis.)
Bar soap (currently sandalwood, homemade by a friend) and washcloth.
Lather, rinse. No need to repeat.
Occasional singing; more likely to engage in a) rants at whoever has irked me lately, b) work on sticky plot points of novel, and c) practice for Academy Award acceptance speech.
Morning or evening?—Neither. I shower as soon as I come home from wherever I’ve been to get the grunge off right away rather than dirty up my easy chair or bed with with sweat and grime. If I know I’m going back out in a bit, I won’t shower but if I’ve showered and then find I have to go out again, I’ll usually do it again when I come back. Yeah, I’m weird like that.
Length?—5 or 6 minutes. Sometimes 8 or 10, but our building has those little water heaters that fit under the kitchen counter. The water tends to be very cool by then, if not downright cold.
Temperature?—Warm, barely bordering on hot.
“Order of events”?—Hair, body, girly bits last.
Bar soap or gel + loofah?—I use Suave shampoo for everything. Makes a great–and cheap–body wash. I haven’t used a washcloth since I got hold of one of those puffy net things I call a scrubby. Of course, I’ve had other scrubbies since the first one.
Lather, rinse? Or lather, rinse, repeat?—Just lather and rinse, unless excessive grunginess warrants a repeat.
Anything ‘non-standard’ habits? (like brushing your teeth or preparing food, a la Kramer )—Nope. I’m pretty much a take-care-of-the-basics-and-get-out kind of gal.
