What's your breakfast?

Lately I’ve been having 2 morning star farms veggie links and a yoplait fat free yogurt.

My problem with breakfast foods is I don’t really like any breakfast food but sugary stuff. I love waffles and pancakes and muffins and croissants and eclairs…I’m trying to eat healthier in the morning. I’d eat oatmeal if I could, but the texture bothers me so much I can’t swallow it.

I usually have:

  • a bowl of cereal (I alternate between sultana bran and weetbix)
  • two slices of toast with vegemite
  • orange juice
  • an apple

A two-cup mug of tea.

I haven’t had breakfast at home since the early 1970s. I can’t even look at food in the morning.

Hodgson Mills makes a great whole wheat/buckwheat pancake mix. That’s what I use (I don’t make them according to package directions, though; I use 1 C. each mix and milk, 1 egg, 1 TBSP oil). I serve them with Spring Tree sugar free syrup. If you can’t find Hodgson Mill at your grocery store, you can buy it on the net. I think it’s Hodgsonmill.com. You can make waffles with it, too, but I don’t own a waffle maker. Sometimes I make a large batch, and freeze them, so in the morning all I have to do is nuke them.

In this order:

1 cigarette
1 Advant Edge Carb Control protein bar
2 cups of coffee

On the weekends, it’s usually three scrambled eggs and a slice of toast with PB. And 2 cups of coffee and a cigarette, of course.

Mmmmmm… Brekkie! My FAVE meal of the day!
WEEKDAYS:

1 bowl of:

Lo-cal Sultana Bran
Raisins
Lo-Cal Weetabix
Some Grape Nuts
Soya Milk
BIG cuppa tea!!

WEEKENDS:

1 bowl of:

Lo-Cal Muesli
Grape nuts
Soya milk

BIG cuppa tea

Crap TV!!

This sounds like my usual breakfast when I was in college:

1 can of Coke
1 stick of Extra spearmint gum
2 aspirin

I usually have an egg white omlet with spinach and hot sauce, sometimes a little cheese, fruit and one slice of whole wheat toast. And lots of coffee, sometimes black, sometimes with cream or sugar. Today, though, I think I’m going to have one of the cinnamon-sugar biscuits I made yesterday, plus the coffee, and loads of it.

Used to not eat any breakfast at all. Now that I’m working out, I’ve decided I’ve had to spread my calories around a bit more. I usually choke down a bowl of oatmeal and a protein drink, which is about the limit of what I can handle right after rolling out of bed. Oh, and a couple of aspirin, of course.

Usually leftovers. I had cold tuna casserole today! Mmm. And coffee. But I drink the coffee during my 45 minute commute, and eat the leftovers when I get to work. Sometimes I eat a granola bar and yogurt, or microwaved oatmeal. Sometimes I grab a breakfast taco with chorizo and scrambled eggs from the taqueria down the street. But I get heartburn all day from that, so I try to resist.

I didn’t used to eat breakfast, but I’ve found I don’t pig out so bad at lunch, and I don’t hit up the vending machines if I eat breakfast.

On weekends I cook more traditionally.

It depends on the day, of course, on what I have, but I’ve always believed in eating breakfast in the morning (and I’m usually starving by 8 AM, so I do have to eat)

If I’ve got a busy morning, it’s coffee with an Atkins bar.

If I’ve got time, it’s usually two scrambled eggs and a few links of Morningstar Veggie Sausages, or some kind of omelette.

Maybe once or twice a month, on the weekends, I’ll make whole-grain pancakes with warm berry compote (much lower in sugar than syrup, and really tasty).

When we have overnight guests, my husband and I will make what he calls “The Ecuadorian Breakfast” which consists of chorizo, eggs, panela (a fresh Latin American cheese similar to mozzarella), and tostones, which are twice-fried plantains.

When I remember to bring it, 4 oz cottage cheeze and 6 oz yougurt. But I often forget becasue I’m not a habitual breakfast eater. I do find that when I’m consistant about eating it, it’s easier to lose weight.

If I don’t bring breakfast, it’s two cups of green tea and a diet Coke. Today, I’m having left-over chocolate cheesecake that was in the breakroom. Yumm…

Weekdays - Big coffee (brewed at home), cigarettes.

Weekends (when I’m not working) - Big coffee, cigarettes, and an egg sandwich which normally contains toasted wheat bread, 2 eggs (with Tabasco, garlic salt and pepper) whatever cheese is in the fridge (usually extra sharp cheddar), maybe some horseradish, and lately I’ll heat up any left-over lunch meat (usually pastrami) and toss it on top. Heaven on a plate, and it only takes about 10 minutes to toss together.

kinda weird, after answering this last night I actually didn’t go with the usual PB&jelly - just a slice of toast with a little bit of margarine. (Was in a hurry this morning and it’s quicker.)

When I lived on my own:
A bowl of cereal OR pb&j sandwich
Fruit

At my parents:
Whatever I could find, from bagels to leftover rice with milk to cream of wheat

Now that I’m back in the dorms:
An omlette made with egg whites, which on a good day contains broccoli, cheese, mushrooms and sometimes sausage
Fruit
Mayhapse some sort of starch, that depends on the caf’s offerings

About three years ago, when I found out my kidneys weren’t doing so well, I started eating cereal for breakfast almost every day. I was supposed to stay away from protein.

Now, that my kidneys have failed and I’m on dialysis, I’m supposed to cram down the protein, so I’ve been having scrambled eggs with cheese quite a bit.

However, today, I got up late and didn’t have time for breakfast, so I ate my tuna sandwhich and apple when I got to work. I had to stick with a granola bar for lunch.

Cheerios. I eat all the different kinds for variety, but honey-nut is my favorite.

Protein shake and vitamins. I know I should have some of the lovely Irish oatmeal that is sitting in my cupboard, but meh. Morning comes too damned early for cooking.

Boy, this thread is making me hungry. Especially for pancakes.

Ok then. A big breakfast to fill your body with energy and seize the day of a light breakfast since filling your stomach with food primes you for a siesta?

and

Some light exercize light some brisk walking or a short jog will get your blood flowing and keeps you awake or wears you out before the day has even begun?

Three cups Whole Foods’ extra-dark french roast, and three or four hand-rolled cigarets, lately Bali Shag. The brand names change, but I’ve been doing this for thirty years or more.

Food in the morning? No, after noon.
