What's your desktop background?

My wallpaper is a picture of my house that I got from terraserver.microsoft.com

right here

I keep a separate file of pictures that I like that are my screen savers. Every so often, I take one of them, and make it my desktop. Sometimes it’s the Bus Kid, sometimes it’s some of the cats, sometimes it’s just something meaningful for that day. Today is one of those. As I cruised past the empty lot where my house is getting ready to be built, I caught the backhoe as it pulled onto the lot, and managed to grab a shot from the next street JUST at the moment it took it’s first bite of what will be the basement of my new home.

It’s a keeper.

I have my own Cult Love Mandala Wallpaper. I made this one and several others.

The Love Mandala is actually a fractal of a stylized, Egyptian, Winged Solar Disk.

I don’t bother with wallpaper - the desktop is largely hidden anyway.

The second one is my work background (larger and not squashed).

I took it on the way to work.

P.s. While I was looking for my background (because I don’t know how to find it from an NT roaming profile. It’s just listed as ‘Internet Explorer Wallpaper’) I found this.

Does anyone know where I can get a high-res version of it, say 1280x1024 (or even 1280x800 for my widescreen er screen) because It’d be a great desktop.

Sakura?

Yes, my favourite. I also use this one and this one from time to time.

It used to be this.

But now it’s (not quite, but very similar to) this.

I have this.

and yes, it does induce nightmares.

I have a folder with 318 JPEGs and I have both of my screens set to randomly pick and load one on bootup/login.

I add to it from time to time. Occasionally I get tired of one of them and archive it elsewhere.

I have a large number of screen-capped images from the Lord of the Rings movies and change them every day; today, I have Gandalf standing by the door at Bag End.

A picture of a small field of wildflowers with a few mesquites in it with sanddunes in the background that I took last Sunday. Just looking at it reminds me of the wonderful smell all the wild flowers gave off.

My previous one was a picture ticked off Prairie Rattle Snake on a red dirt road that I took back in mid-March.

Mine is always one from the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day website. Currently it is this one, which really caught my fancy.

remove your monitor, take a picture of where your monitor used to be, set as wallpaper.

This. I love nature shots and I will definitely check out National Geographic!
